does your dp/dh pick you up?

do you mind? dh's been picking me up since we first married,(i was 'underweight' then). i thought since i'd given birth, it would be the end of it. but nooooooo, he doesn't mind picking up an over 10st (slightly)woman.
i found it very weird, and wonder if others still get carried around, especially in the least ideal moments.

Yes, i do think he gets a kick out of it.
the first time he picked me up we were having a party. we (the two of us) were in our room and i need to reach something but didn't have a chair in that room. he suggested he pick me up, i said no (not firmly, just kind of a surprised 'no, i'd fall'). one minute i'm looking at the object i wanted and thinking of how to reach it without having to leave the room and getting something, the next thing i know i'm nearly 5 feet above the floor. i was shrieking soooooo badly and i didn't even realise it until he put me down (a minute later). i thinking he still remembers that. i do laugh (now), but i really think he simply enjoys it my reaction.

PC, funnily i did think a bit wistfully of the times he used to pick me up after i'd given birth believing it was over. but then he surprised me and remembered all the scary bits once he resumed his hobby.

I weigh less and sometimes I get piggy backs or a 'picked up hug', these days I would like to be carried around all day and fed yoghurt and put to bed

waaaaaaaaah I feel crappy and want looking after

PrettyCandles · 22/06/2006 19:31

Just like you don't need to be given flowers and chocolates, you can buy them for yourself.

fuzzywuzzy · 22/06/2006 19:35

yep he does, our girls think it's really funny....

Pages · 22/06/2006 21:16

DH takes me under the armpits and bounces me up and down, higher and higher...I love it!

Mercy · 22/06/2006 21:27

Years ago dh would try and pick me up - mainly an attempt to get me into the bedroom - but I hated it and he got puffed out anyway.

He has picked me up a couple of times when I've been very drunk though

mili · 22/06/2006 21:29

'i am an adult woman i dont needt o be picked up'

'course not. but i'm sure you'd like to be.

LilacWine · 22/06/2006 21:37

UberCodofWashingFame · 22/06/2006 21:40

Gingerbear · 22/06/2006 21:43

not DH, but my mate is a fireman and he gives me a fireman's lift

LaDiDaDi · 22/06/2006 21:45

I also thought you meant from work or after nights out!

Dp used to pick me up but hasnt for a while...We did used to joke that if he couldn't pick me up then either I was fat or he was unfit. May challenge his fitness this evening . Especially after today in Boots he put his foot on the scales when I was weighing myself. Let me wander around the shops for an hour whinging that I couldn't possibly have put on 5lbs in a fortnight before he confessed.

Maybe if he borrowed a crane he'd be able to but seeing as I weigh a significant amount more than him AND he has a bad back I wouldn't even suggest it!

However when we get married in 100 weeks and I've lost the necessary 50million stone he can sweep me into his arms and off to our bridal suite in Clontarf Castle!!!

mili · 22/06/2006 23:13

oh sally, that's sweet.
mercy, i didn't mean you! , i was referring to cod and tr

see, i'd never ask dh to pick me up and would never really expected him to. its just that i was always worried people would drop me if they picked me up even tho i would pick them up and they weight more than me. and i really am afraid of breaking his back, but he doesn't seem to care at the mo (or rather when he has me in the air )
