Virtual Circle of Friends

MillyMollyMandy78 · 28/02/2013 10:18

On my last post about a lack of friends, so many of you reached out with your own stories/ support/ advice. Several of you also said it would be great if we had our own thread where we can just meet up and have a chat and be virtual friends.
I apologise about the boring thread name - I couldn't think of anything cleverer! So this is me reaching out... Who wants to join me & be my virtual friend? X

Comin - Moon River in Breakfast at Tiffany's makes me cry too! I wish I had a dog to soak up the tears.

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing ok today. I'm working from home in my pyjamas, as per. No wonder I never get anything done!

threebats · 01/03/2013 14:14

seabright Am utterly jealous... You mean to tell me you have seen the sun? The round, yellow thing that resides somewhere up in the sky and radiates warmth to those below? I thought that was only a myth....

Walk went well, I think anyhow. No strained conversation, had a coffee. To be honest, felt a bit odd as I am used to walking on my own and getting coffee on my own. But odd as opposed to weird which is good. Am happy to be back home again now though, its not very easy in your 40's to just be able to join in and make friends. Found it far easier when I was younger. But, we have said to do it again next Friday, weather permitting so it can not have gone badly.

comingthroughthewry so sorry to hear about Oldgentlelab....

Plans for rest of my day are thus: Ignore all cleaning up that needs doing, pretend I have no work to be getting on with and my inbox is clear, fill up hot water bottle, go sit on couch under a blanket and finish reading my book. I have some Drumstick Lollies and I am not afraid to eat them!

Afternoon people or VF's now that I've joined the group I'm a tad lost for words Blush

I do spot a Game of Thrones fan, or at least I hope I spot one! Is anyone else excited about the prospect of the new season?

PopeBenedictsP45 · 01/03/2013 14:22

neri which season are you talking? I am far behind with the TV series (have seen two). I have read six books (I think?) but am going to stop now, they just lost their power after the first three. Is it worth persevering with the TV version?

neriberi · 01/03/2013 14:35

PopeBenedictsP45 the 3rd season is due to be aired in the UK on April 1st, I am really excited, I've read all of the books right up to A DANCE WITH DRAGONS: AFTER THE FEAST and are waiting for the last 2 books to be written and released. You need to persevere with the books, they drop off a bit as he fills in a few back stories then they pick up again and there a few surprises as well Smile

PopeBenedictsP45 · 01/03/2013 15:09

Aha, I'm not so behind after all!

I'm reading Dance With Dragons and am finding it's really dragging and I have just about lost interest - which means I'm not keeping up with the characters. And there's not enough Arya in there!

neriberi · 01/03/2013 16:23

apparently he took a few of the chapters about the main characters out of the last couple of books and stuck them in the Winds of Winter instead (I'm showing my inner geek here Shock ) if you have a hunt about on some of the forums and check out George RR Martins website you will find exerts from the moved chapters, Theon Greyjoy was one of the characters to have chapters about him moved...

PopeBenedictsP45 · 01/03/2013 16:25

OK, I will get my geek on and have a look around. Thanks!

targaryen24 · 01/03/2013 16:57

shadowland · 01/03/2013 17:21

Just seen this thread, And I wanted to say that the title of 'virtual circle of friends', says it all. I do not often post, but, as has said by others, in RL, not having many friends, coming on here and being part of this community, means a lot. Thank you, everyone.

CremeEggThief · 01/03/2013 17:26

Please may I join too?

MillyMollyMandy78 · 01/03/2013 18:35

Welcome, Shadowland & CremeEggThief, and anyone else that sneaked on here while i was at work! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and maybe I'll see some of u on here too!

Just laying with dd23 mths then me and dh going out for dinner, we're lucky to have a great restaurant literally 5 mins away that so fab food. Can't wait I'm starving. I made a chocolate and banana cake this afternoon, cut into it and it's not cooked in the middle < sobs>

Can anyOne recommend a good box set for me and ds (15) to watch. We've just finished the Mentalist so something like that, crime. Not CEO though.

What's everyone's plans for the weekend then?
