Dating chit chat here :)

Whoops. Unphotogenic.

Anyway, after a couple of days with more mails, more requests for a photo eventually she sent one and it was just... Oh no. I wouldn't look twice at a wink from her, now I have to just tell her its off and basically it's because of how she looks.

Which pisses me off, because there is an etiquette to OD which prevents things like that from happening.
I'm not going to arrange a date with someone who just makes me shudder simply because Ive mailed them. And describing herself as very attractive was just hugely optimistic

Have a bloody photo.

mercury7 · 15/02/2013 19:54

I agree, not having a photo is weird.
I think it's rude if someone with out a clear face pic messages me, I have a clear face pic..it's a bit creepy/peeping tom to speak to someone whilst hiding your own face!

JulietteMontague · 15/02/2013 19:59

Oh goodness Bant, how embarrassing. I can't think of any way you could let someone down gently in that way but she should have had a photo.

Scrazy · 15/02/2013 20:01

Bant, I have had this situation and have got round it by politely saying that you can tell you won't get on.

EternalRose · 15/02/2013 20:02

I know it's bad but I probably wouldn't reply at all. Surely that has to be better than saying you don't find her attractive?

Although, I agree having a profile pic eradicates these issues somewhat.

mercury7 · 15/02/2013 20:03

I just say in my profile I wont reply to anyone who hasnt got a clear face pic

48howdidthathappen · 15/02/2013 20:29

Pizza for one here Rose

Daughters BF has taken her out for a meal to a lovely place. He was working last night.

She is such a picky eater. Total bloody waste. Grrr!

OhWesternWind · 15/02/2013 20:32

48 your dd's bf sounds lovely - all the stuff yesterday and now a meal out!

48howdidthathappen · 15/02/2013 20:35

OWW He is a bloody saint. She is so difficult.

Only a mother could love her Blush

SweetSeraphim · 15/02/2013 20:38

That's awful when that happens. You can build up a huge rapport with someone over messages and then they send you a picture and you're... Envy

It can be even worse when you've seen pics and then you turn up and they look nothing like it....

48howdidthathappen · 15/02/2013 20:40

I met one with no profile pic, he did send me one.

He was a teacher, so understandable I thought.

Scrazy · 15/02/2013 20:48

Anyone watching Corrie? The manager of the casino is hot!

JulietteMontague · 15/02/2013 20:49

I was on a site once where your pic was hidden as standard and you released it when you wanted to. A guy was going to call me in 10 minutes so I thought I'd release my picture. Never heard from him again and that was my one and only attempt at OD a few years ago Grin

Scrazy · 15/02/2013 20:51

Juliette, you win some you lose some.

OhWesternWind · 15/02/2013 20:56

Bant you could carry on chatting for a couple of messages then make an excuse. Or say something really crass to put her off.

JulietteMontague · 15/02/2013 20:59

At the time it really upset me but that was then... OD is like a boot camp version of finishing school, kind of destroys you then turns you out ready for anything.

mercury7 · 15/02/2013 21:03

'OD is like a boot camp version of finishing school, kind of destroys you then turns you out ready for anything.'

aint that the truth Juliette :o

Sneakymeezer · 15/02/2013 21:05

I reported it, I thought it was offensive, spiteful and deliberately hurtful.

mercury7 · 15/02/2013 21:06

thats why I keep doing it...I'm nearly at total hard faced bitch level might as well stay the course!

Sneakymeezer · 15/02/2013 21:06

That was watch's message to OWW btw that I reported

grinchie · 15/02/2013 21:09

Rose DD and I went to see Zero Dark Thirty this evening.
It's really good, now we're home. I'm on the sofa with a hot chocolate about to compose an email to Ironman.

I'm happy although I know it's not everyone's idea of a good time!

JulietteMontague · 15/02/2013 21:10

Sneaky I'm totaly lost now...Smile

lubeybooby · 15/02/2013 21:11

"OD is like a boot camp version of finishing school, kind of destroys you then turns you out ready for anything"

That is exactly how i feel about it Juliette! :o excellent quote

Sneaky means the comment on the other thread, Juliette. The one as mentioned earlier that was reported but was deemed borderline and left there. Nothing borderline about it (imho)

OhWesternWind · 15/02/2013 21:13

Thank you Sneaky.

Have just had a text from LM. Don't think he's doing very well, upset about his dad. Have texted back to say call or text any time and we can talk about your dad or anything else, and that I want to help but I'm not sure how best to. Really sad for him. I still miss my dad but it's not all raw and horrible like it is in the early days.
