The Brave Babes Battle Bus - New Year? So, Let's Go Up A Gear!

ChristMouseTimeMistletoeNoWine · 26/12/2012 21:54

Hello, tis me, Mouse (normally Mouseface but I'm wearing my festive name Smile)

Welcome to the Brave Babes Battle Bus, to a place of solace, support and sanctuary, if that's what you seek of course. It's also a Bus full of bloomin' chatterboxes, waffling on about life, love and all things from school reports to laundry! Grin

The journey into 2013 is going to be an ass kicking one as we're moving up a gear to give the WineWitch a bloody good slapping, and the BoozeBeast a kick in the bollo............. Grin

Some of us drink in moderation, some of us drink. Some of us are sober, some of us are trying so very, very hard to be.

Some of us have been dry for days, weeks, months and some of us years...... some of us are just starting out and are scared of what stopping drinking means. It's not forever, it's just for today if that's what you want. Smile

We have a saying on the Bus One Day At A Time. Or ODAAT

Take each moment, each day and each blip as it comes. The support on this Bus has kept me from ruining my life time and time again. The experiences of others shared here has helped me to change the way I see alcohol, the way I see what it does to me.

Although some Babes have been here a while and kind of 'know' each other, we all have different lives, different roles to play, different places to sit on the Bus, but we ALL have or have had abusive relationships with alcohol and we're here because we want that to change; for the better.

Everyone is welcome here so don't be afraid to just jump right in and say hi. Post as much or as little as you like!

So, come say hi, grab a seat, an eggnog (non alcoholic of course Wink) and a mince pie, or chocolate chip cookie, and meet some lovely, genuine people who are just like YOU.

Also, HERE IS THE PREVIOUS THREAD with a link in the OP to the first ever thread, and the reason why after more than two and a half years, this thread is still here, supporting those in need. Smile

Have made big note to self to make sure I post every day or when I come back I'll have missed loads and loads! Can't believe how busy the bus is right now.
Mouse I really appreciate that you're taking the time to tell us how you got to where you are and I look forward to reading very much. Mia you sound in a really good frame of mind at the moment, I'm similarly positive at the moment (on day 11) but am mindful of how easy it is to fall back into the old routines.

mrdarceych · 07/01/2013 13:18

Thanks for the welcome!
I am off to visit a friend this afternoon... Well a old work aquaintence as she is unexpectedly local for a few days... Now normally I would of planned the visit say, yesturday, woken up this morning with looking forward to it, then hour by hour doubted myself of said friendship,... Opened the Mateus... And either cancelled with a feeble excuse, or gone ahead ( having finished the mateus of course) !
I am looking forward to going now with a sober head...
Day 2and I will not be drinking (and driving!) hope to speak later... And thanks again... I know this is going to help me... Its not going to be easy... New mantra for me is hour by hour!

greeneyed · 07/01/2013 13:24

Hello and Well doneMRD does this catch up usually involve drinking? If so do you have a plan?

purple you okay? mouse thank you for taking the time to give us the secret of your success :) looking forward to reading it. Waves to and congratulates all other brave babes xx

mrdarceych · 07/01/2013 13:45

Luckily not( well... On my part, yes... Prob with wine in a ribena bottle or such like in my bag! Ugh! I am vile! ) but she is not a drinker... Shes the sort i WANT to be... Just the odd glass on special occasions! Dont know if i will ever get there.. But one day at a time! :-)

Tigerinthegrass · 07/01/2013 14:05

joey hope you get it sorted, I'm intrigued as to what they are. I have to laugh at opal fruits, haven't heard that for ages.

Fairenuff · 07/01/2013 14:07

< picks up opal fruit wrappers and puts them tidily in bin >

Purple can you give us a shout just to let us know how you are my lovely? Just a hi will do x

Well, I caught a rare glimpse of the Jeremy Vile show this morning [shudder] and I thought to myself, that's what I'm going to end up looking like if I don't get my arse in gear and into this BraveBabeBootcamp. (The women, I mean, not Jeremy Grin). So I'm suited and booted and ready to sign up for training ma'am. Where do I sign my life away in?

< surrpetitiously eats last piece of shortbread >

I think I've posted this before, but will do a quick reminder 'bout calorie burning. Take you weight in lbs and times it by 13. So if you were 10 stone that would be 140lb x 13 = 1,820. That is the number of calories you can eat in a day to maintain your existing weight.

One pound is equal to 3,500 calories, so if you under eat by that amount, you will lose 1lb. If you overeat by that amount you will gain 1lb.

So, if you undereat by 500 calories a day, that would be 3,500 a week which would mean you would lose 1lb a week. If you want faster weight loss or toning, bung in some exercise.

I've got just over 2,000 to maintain my weight so am going to go for 1,000 a day which should net me a 2lb a week weight loss. We'll see.

Fairenuff · 07/01/2013 14:09

ps joey sorry to have to break it to you but they don't do the yellow ones anymore Shock

hello everyone I am at work now - blergh back to normal :( Had another eventful night with monstercat. He is obviousl a night time outdoor cat as gets all agitated when it gets dark - can't let him out yet though. So, we had him on our bed again ( I know, I know..) and at 4am, he was squeaking nicely and nosing us to go out! Arghhh. DD came through saying 'he's woken me up...' I went down with him and gave him a bit of food and showed him his area but he just looked at me in a stupid manner and went to the door!! Anyway, he settled ish in the end and we managed to get up - dd gone to school holiday club and ds at home with him (i've been getting hourly updates Grin ) Feeling quite ggod - day 7. A bit headachy, but parked the car at dd school and walked the extra mile to work whcih is always good. I just want to say that I totally get everyone who has that 'cannot stop' button installed. This is the heardest thing about not drinking. We so want to be controlled and think we can, but actually...we can't :( I do try, but know it'll all fall apart in the end. Keep rolling on all. xxxx

Mouseface · 07/01/2013 15:30

Afternoon, tis me, Mouse

Purple - I've heard from her and she's fine, she said sorry to worry us all, she'd posted a direct link to her FB account as you do, so had to get it deleted asap. Grin

Gugg - I'm glad your meeting went well Smile xx

Holly - I love that you have a MonsterCat, I have a Wolf and from here by in call smudge MonsterCat Grin There's a picture of Seth (my wolf) on my profile Smile

Well done on day 7, it gets MUCH better from here on in! The detox bit starts to settle and will get less intense in my experience.

Talking of which, I've got three billion bloomin' pages that I'm trying to get down to one or two Soma, I'm almost done so will post about my own personal journey with alcohol abuse tonight if that's okay xx

Help - how are you feeling today? Any better? How's the pain?

I have updated my pics of Nemo on my profile from the park this morning Smile It was freezing but he had a ball, and so did I but I'm done in for the day now so the heating is on, I'm wrapped up warm and sipping hot chocolate. YUM!!!

Be back later with my post about how I got from there to here Smile

EastHollyDaleStreet · 07/01/2013 15:39

monstercat he is known as then Grin. he has met various other neighbourhood cats today, ds says and has sorted out his supreme position of top cat (from behind the glass conservatory doors...)by growling and hissing.

EastHollyDaleStreet · 07/01/2013 15:40

looooooooooook at your doggie!!!!!! awwwwwwwww

determinedma · 07/01/2013 15:49

great pics mouse dd is absolutely gorgeous, and as for fish boy - well, just squeeeeee. Give him a kiss from me.
faire front and centre NOW! You are one week late for boot camp lady!

Mouseface · 07/01/2013 16:11

Ma - do we have an official weigh in day? I need to get back on track. Not by loads but enough because I've been comfort eating.

And I want to try to go out with Nemo or at least move about for an hour continuously each day. That's my limit before I get to not moving stage!

Greyhound · 07/01/2013 16:24

Jeremy Vile is appalling, isn't he? Of course, if I catch it when it's on, I'm completely mesmerised. The guests on it alway look so unhealthy - pasty, spotty and either underfed or overfed.

PurpleWolfe · 07/01/2013 16:31

Just got in.

Sorry everyone Blush

aliasjoey · 07/01/2013 16:33

mouse great photos, I look forward to reading your saga

am so tired, ended up sleeping in the spare room with DD. waiting for the council to phone. DH and I both feel itchy, but it could just be our imagination working overtime. for heaven's sake don't google birdmites or you will have nightmares.

and what do you mean they don't make yellow opal fruits any more? is there no END to the suffering we are going through?

Mouseface · 07/01/2013 16:43

PA?! Do you not think I have enough to do woman!? Wink Glad you're okay.

Joey - shit. Never tell me not to Google. I am now itchy by proxy! It's like when someone says nits, me head itches.

greeneyed · 07/01/2013 17:02

Joey - I can't believe you told us not to google them - you might as well have pasted a picture :) We all love doing what we are told not to on here Grin Sorry not up to date - have you spoken to rentokil or private firm if just to get advice - my ears are itching now! I feel so sorry for you all! xx

aliasjoey · 07/01/2013 18:28

mouse, green I think you're missing the point about the severity of my situation. they have STOPPED MAKING yellow opal fruits !

greeneyed · 07/01/2013 18:48

joey that's bad - they are still making the green ones right?

WW has just turned up and slapped me around the chops - I have even been hovering around the gin - this is when it gets hard when the novelty wears off. Right off in pursuit of some sugar to see if that helps!

Fairenuff · 07/01/2013 19:02

The green ones are even more in demand now so watch out ma.

< scratch, scratch >

greeneyed · 07/01/2013 19:16

Well I think tonight I will mostly be hiding in my bedroom - last night it was the garage but I need more materials before I can carry on with that project. Looking forward to the day the WW doesn't turn up, does that happen? If you ignore her for long enough does she just stop calling?

Good luck to all babes in showing her the door tonight x Ma you still holding my hand?
