This really is not particularly along that thread but ..... My mantra for everything comes from of all places Finding Nemo - "just keep swimming, just keep swimming"

I've never told anyone that before!

Feeling bitter is like drink poison and expecting the other person to die.

VBisme · 06/11/2012 21:27

This too will pass.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
(From a lady nun of many centuries ago called Julian of Norwich)

And here's another:

Those things that matter shall be resolved, those that do not shall fall away.
(From a very wise and dear friend of mine)

Both have stood me in very good stead. And both are right Grin

While waiting for the storm to pass, learn to dance in the rain.

It won't last forever, the bad shall pass. My fav though is "Bad things fall apart so better things can come together."

"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference."

Serenity prayer. Applicable to everything, good luck, OP!

Salbertina · 07/11/2012 05:50

Oh and a Buddhist one i love
"No mud, no lotus."

Meaning, i think, that the lotus flower cannot grow and bloom without the fertile shit- soil underneath it which is its foundation.

dearprudence · 07/11/2012 05:54

What a nice thread Smile

trumpton · 07/11/2012 05:56

It's a case of mind over matter ..... I don't mind and you don't matter !

dippyDoohdah · 07/11/2012 07:48

daffydowndilly · 07/11/2012 14:29

A longer version of the serenity prayer that I have heard... love it!

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference
Grant me patience with the changes that take time
Appreciation of all that I have
Tolerance of those with different struggles
And the strength to get up and try again
One day at a time

Also: serenity isn't freedom from the storm, it is the peace within the storm.

"Better to live one day as a lion than a hundred years as a lamb...." (Unfortunately attributed to Benito Mussolin but you get the general ideai!!!)

CogitoErgoSometimes · 07/11/2012 14:51

(I take it back. Mussolini nicked it from a Tibetan proverb and it's 'tiger' rather than 'lion' ... so I'm not a fascist after all... phew)
