Dp and I have broken up after eight years (no dc). The split is a mutal and friendly one, but it is still hitting me hard.

I am due to move out in a fortnight and although in one way I`m looking forward to it, I am still a little nervous.

Please, anyone who has been through a similar thing, please come and tell me all the good things about living on your own...

no more having to have sex when you're not in the mood, tired etc etc. Or shall i put a more positive spin on it- only having sex when you really want to! :)

I'm in a bad position to be reading this. I loved living alone when I split from tosspot Ex. However, husband is now working away Saturday- Thursday and I forgot how nice it is to have the flat to myself! Thursday evenings and Fridays are weird because he's IN MY SPACE!

Things I love though:

  • a tin of peas and a tin of sweetcorn can now constitute a balanced meal, should that be what I wish to eat for my tea.
  • A full bottle of wine can be consumed by 6pm resulting in me being fast asleep by 7pm, and it doesn't matter
  • In contrast to what a previous poster wrote, random items of clothing can now be left in various rooms because who is there to complain
  • I agree with previous posters on if I want to go somewhere on my way home from work, I can.
  • If I want to sleep in the spare bed for no reason other than fancying a change, I can.
  • If I want to sit on skype all night to my family, I can. And I don't have to talk to his family because they never ring any more!
  • A good, well rounded evening plan can consist of sitting at the breakfast bar watching old episodes of Friends if I really can't be arsed doing anything, and it can also consist of eating takeaway in bed watching telly.
  • No UFC on the telly!
