mobile! they are not answering and google/facebook is not coming up with anything.

are there any apps or cheats people use to find out where a call or message was made from?

If you are seriously worried about someone's safety -you can call the police on the non emergency number.

susiemumof · 13/05/2012 16:08

No it's not that dramatic (fortunately) it's to find out if my dh is a liar or not.

Don't think the police would be interested.

I am sure it must be a unregistered phone, am hoping a "geek" might know a loophole?

The police can request that information from the mobile operator, but I very much doubt if you can get it any other way

Wheezo · 13/05/2012 16:22

How about sending a text (not from your number - get another sim card) that is something like: Thank you for your Order ref 187290. Delivery will take place on Tuesday 15 May between 8 - 12pm. Please call us on Monday 14 May [your new sim no] to confirm your delivery time.

Then answer the phone tomorrow and try and bluff your way through as if it's an incorrect telephone number for an order for a sofa or something bulky and double check the address with the caller and apologise for the inconvenience and say there must have been a mix up with mobile phone numbers for the order.

Do you have ipad or iphone? i can trace my iphone and find out it's exact location using my ipad and vice versa using an app called find my iphone but it would require your DH to have an iphone and you'd need his Apple log in information (email and password). Maybe something to sign up to for future use, if you both have iphones that is.

izzyizin · 13/05/2012 16:37

Who do you suspect is not answering? An ow? Where is your dh now?

DogEared · 13/05/2012 16:40

Wheezo That is ingenious!

OracleInaCoracle · 13/05/2012 16:40

whats happened?

susiemumof · 13/05/2012 16:42

I had a text from a unknown number saying something about my dh, I need to know if it's malicious or if there is truth it in.

He is denying everything so I need to speak to this person but no-one is answering.

Hope it's nothing, couldn't read and run.

I have no knowledge in this area, but I like the sound of Wheezo's plan

moomoo1967 · 13/05/2012 16:45

and me Wheezo's plan sounds as though it could work

Lifeissweet · 13/05/2012 16:45

Good grief, Wheezo! It's frightening that you've just hatched such a cunning plan off the top of your head. I'm impressed!

Dillydollydaydream · 13/05/2012 16:46

As far as I know there is no reverse phone directory in the UK.
The "delivery" text idea is good if u have access to another number.

Dropdeadfred · 13/05/2012 16:46

Text the person back and say I will ignore your text unless you pick up the phone so whatever you wanted to happen will not happen without further details

OracleInaCoracle · 13/05/2012 16:51

what dropdeadfred said.

AmayaBuzzbee · 13/05/2012 16:54

Agree, text back and ask for some kind of details which would confirm whether this person is telling the truth.

izzyizin · 13/05/2012 17:00

If you've received a malicious message it's unlikely you're going to find out whether there's any truth in it by speaking to the sender.

What did the message say and, apart from your dh, is there any other party who can shed some light on the matter?

BumpingFuglies · 13/05/2012 17:08

Bluff. Text and say you AND dh are on your way now to see them and that you know who they are.

doinmummy · 13/05/2012 17:20

what did the text say?

susiemumof · 13/05/2012 17:34

I was just really a "I know something you don't know......" text

But dh has history and I am already thinking it's over. This would help me decide but it may also be total lies by someone wanting to hurt him

OP posts:
tb · 13/05/2012 17:48

Just on the off-chance you could always try a google of the number.

The 'I know something you don't' sounds a little bit playground-y iyswim, though.

Good luck

midwife99 · 13/05/2012 17:52

Wheezo! How sneaky!! I love it!!Grin

NicholasTeakozy · 13/05/2012 17:56

This page any good?

izzyizin · 13/05/2012 18:02

Why would someone want to hurt him? It sounds more likely that someone wants to hurt you. Any ideas as to who it could be?

doinmummy · 13/05/2012 18:08

It must be someone you know as they have your mobile number.
