Guardian soulmates - is it just me who can't understand what everyone is on about?

I had a look. Just tentatively thinking I might, just might, one day, consider trying a bit of online dating.

So I take a look at Guardian Soulmates. Is every man on there a frustrated poet? I wasn't sure what half of them were on about.

I can't even parody what they were saying. It was all so odd.

Is it just me?

I have just read this and am aware that it is a Zombie thread - but I have just joined Soulmates and I couldn't begin to tell you how stressful the whole experience of online dating is.
The thread has really made me laugh because that is how it is - the photo stuff excruciating - I never knew until now just how important a v good photo is and I am NOT photogenic - a nightmare - then you wait for likes - again excruciating 'what if nobody likes me'? and then you get likes and you think - 'what the hell' am I that bad?
If you are feeling at all wobbly (like I am) don't do it - it is a killer for your self - esteem don't quite know what the answer is except for getting David Bailey to do your photo - v likely (not)

Don't ever go on Wise Owl for the over 50's. It is a nightmare. They send out part of your profile to all these random men, then do the same to you, everyone thinks they have a private message. It turns out no-one has actually read anyone's profile because they like their picture.

It has made me feel very depressed. Not to mention scammers who cut and paste a load of bollocks. Awful. I cant wait for my subs to be over and I have only been on there a week!

I have had one message from a guy who actually looked at the profile.
The rest have been random profiles from the site. Horrible. That is out of about 60 messages.

Now when I see one in my emails "You have a private message" I just think Fuck Off. I could actually kill all these men too, they are so vain and most of them are fuglies but of course they think they should be with really attractive women!! Rant over. ;)
