we have 2.

dru hill - my angel (but it's all about splittin up/how the other person can't cope being apart etc and is saying u're my angel, bring my sunshine back) and
aerosmith don't wanna miss a thing.

munz · 26/01/2006 11:01

My angel - love this song - love dru hill.

Girl it's been so long
Since I held you in my arms
So I picked up pen and paper
And decided to write you a song
Things just ain't the same
Since you took your love away
All I have is dark and lonely days
Cause the sun don't shine my way
Wish that I could find the words to say
To show you love is real
The words just can't express
The way I feel

You're my angel
My sun up in the sky
We've been through hell and back together
Why you wanna leave me now
Only you can ease the pain I feel
And wipe my tears away
Won't you fly back home
And make me whole again

Baby not a day goes by
That I don't want to cry
When I think of what we had
How you walked out of my life
All I had was yours to take
Till my heart you chose to break
Still I wish I could make love to you
Just one more time for all times sake
Wish that I could find the words to say
To show you love is real
The words just can't express
The way I feel

You're my angel
My sun up in the sky
We've been through hell and back together
Why you wanna leave me now
Only you can ease the pain I feel
And wipe my tears away
Won't you fly back home
And make me whole again

'I finally found someone' - Barbara Streisand and Bryan Adams.....

paolosgirl · 26/01/2006 11:29

Can't help falling in love with you - but must be by UB40. First song we ever danced to on the night we met after the Ireland/Scotland rugby match

And far more cheesily, Love is all around - we had our first dance at our wedding. The song and the film was everywhere the year we met.

Happy memories everytime I hear either of them

JackieNo · 26/01/2006 11:40

"Will you" by Hazel O'Connor. Shows how old I am, doesn't it

Marina · 26/01/2006 11:42

Ours is Leonard Cohen, Take This Waltz.
Ds' "song" I suppose is Soave sia'il vento from Cosi fan tutte, because I have memories of playing it to try and calm him down - it didn't work!
dd's song is Elton John, Are you Ready for Love?

JackieNo · 26/01/2006 11:51

Oh yes, and I always associate Robbie Williams 'She's the one' with DD, and being in hospital just having had her, and having problems feeding her, so expressing, and being attached to the electric breast pump in the small hours of the mornings, with that playing on the radio. Still makes a tear come to my eye now (even just writing about it )

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2006 12:01

HC - my life is a Thomas Hardy novel, complete with appropriately named son

flutterbee · 26/01/2006 12:04

KC and Jo Jo --- All my life was out wedding song

and

James Blunt --- Beautifull was sung constantly by me to ds when he was in my tummy and then when he was just being born it was playing on the radio and I sang along and cried my eyes out.

cutekids · 26/01/2006 12:09

"The only way is up"!!!was playing when I met my hubie. the song that takes me back to an old partner though-another thread i'm sure!-is "Careless Whisper".

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2006 12:11

Dp used to sing the Banana Splits song up my fanny when I was pregnant. Ds was breech and singing at the business end was one of the recommended ways to turn him. Dp claimed not to know the words to any other songs. It worked, anyway

bundy · 26/01/2006 12:13

dd1: Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong was on the radio as my c/s was performed.. also remember listening to You're Gorgeous.. full-blast that summer. sigh.

dd2: Doe, A Deer is big in her life at the moment, as is anything Sound of Music-ish.

Lacrimosa · 26/01/2006 12:14

Radiohead : green plastic watering can!

mumfor1sttime · 26/01/2006 12:15

Baby D - Let me be your fantasy

Sadeyedladyofthelowlands · 26/01/2006 12:17

Don't know who sang it but there was a song always on the radio when I got home from hospital with dd, "These words are my own, from my heart flow, I love you, I love you, I love you.." I remember cuddling dd so tight, dancing (stitches and all) her around my kitchen.
I always shed a tear at that song now. Who sang it? No idea.

KenningtonKitty · 26/01/2006 12:23

I'm slightly embarrased to say it's Darius - Colourblind - it was in charts when DD was born and lyrics said "...nobody told me it would be so good, nobody told me I could be so happy......

crazydazy · 26/01/2006 12:27

Kiss Me - Sixpence none the richer (when we first met)

Alicia Keys - Ain't got you (for now)

crazydazy · 26/01/2006 12:31

DP's song for DD is "she's the one" it brings a lump to my throat everytime I hear it.

Mine for the kids is "flying without wings" by Westlife......

Hopeless romantic I am.

thereclusivewriterinthemillet · 26/01/2006 12:32

dear god franny are you capable of posting on any thread without mentioning your fanny??

crazydazy · 26/01/2006 12:35

Is that fanny or franny?

kleggie · 26/01/2006 12:42

Sadeyedladyofthelowlands- it's Natasha Bedingfield.

DH and I don't really have a song, but there are songs that remind me of him. He sings Elation by the Levellers to me when I can't sleep and the only time we have ever been to kareoke he sang Dire Straits' Romeo and Juliet to me.

Walked down the aisle to At My Most Beautiful by REM (can't listen to it without crying) and DH swears that Billy Joel's Always A Woman is about me. Not necessarily a compliment!

Serendippity · 26/01/2006 12:42

Oooh we have 3

"Someone Like You" by Van Morrison which will be the first song played at our wedding
"Unchained Melody" Rightous Brothers version
"Romeo and Juliet" by dire Straights

tex111 · 26/01/2006 12:45

"Can't Help Falling in Love". Chosen by my aunt, who sang it at our wedding, because DH and I knew each other only a couple of months before we were married. My aunt has a very thick Texan accent so it was more like "Cain't Hep Fallin in Luuuuv'.

Fimbo · 26/01/2006 12:55

Wet, Wet, Wet - Love Is All Around because like PG, Four Weddings and A Funeral was everywhere when we met and it was also the first film we saw together.

When Dh & I first started living together, we only saw each other at weekends as he worked miles away - this was our special song by Runrig (Scottish group);-

You ask me to believe in magic
Expect me to commit suicide of the heart
And you ask me to play this game without question
Raising the stakes on this shotgun roulette
But you came to me like the ways of children
Simple as breathing, easy as air
Now the years hold no fears, like the wind they pass over
Loved, forgiven, washed, saved
Every river I try to cross
Every hill I try to climb
Every ocean I try to swim
Every road I try to find
All the ways of my life
I'd rather be with you
There's no way
Without you
