I've just been on Plenty of Fish for an hour....

averyembarrassingq · 25/01/2012 23:48

and I have received chat prompts from:

3 married men - apparently all bizzness men......
Another copper - that makes 3 married coppers in as many days
A lad under the age of 30
And a bi sexual man who when pressed said he preferred men but the pickings were a bit light so he thought he contact a woman in his area.....

As if it's not hard enough, I've now got to consider that I've not got just other ladies for competition but bloody men too!

Good grief!

My mind is boggling! It all sounds very odd!

Ask the married men if their wives are mumsnetters!

workshy · 25/01/2012 23:51

depressing isn't it

I also have the joys of avoiding my ex who changes his user name all the time so blocking him is futile, and a psycho who I went on one date with and had to run off cause he wouldn't leave me alone and had REALLY bad breath who also keeps changing his user name and messaging me

HoneyNutBoobs · 25/01/2012 23:52

I've just blocked 5 men from POF for being total knob jockeys. One was married, another a Paramedic and another a copper (wonder if its same copper that contacted you??)

HoneyNutBoobs · 25/01/2012 23:53

Blardy hell workshy that is depressing!

GypsyMoth · 25/01/2012 23:54

Bet they aren't really coppers!! Just saying that to reel you in.....for the uniform novelty

HoneyNutBoobs · 25/01/2012 23:56

Ah, I see. Wonder how many people fall for that chestnut??

I must admit I did meet one proper Copper (Traffic cop) ~ he was quite nice but I fainted over dinner and he never contacted me again.

workshy · 25/01/2012 23:56

I know a paramedic on there hahaha

HoneyNutBoobs · 25/01/2012 23:58

Ooh workshy does he love in Cambridgeshire?? (nosy cow I am!)

workshy · 26/01/2012 00:02

no, lancashire lol

WetTheMogwai · 26/01/2012 00:03

my first night on a dating sight the other week and the first 3 messages i got were:

'REALLY HEAVY POLAR BEAR!...well it breaks the ice!'

'Would you date a man with a facial tattoo?'
and

'Do you collect conkers?'

but we must press on and push aside the many wierdos and find my prince!

averyembarrassingq · 26/01/2012 00:04

I ask the married men how long they've been in open relationships and that they are lucky to have wives that are that understanding. I've given them all a lecture and sent them on their way.

One even had that he was looking for an "honest" woman for NSA fun and stated that he was also "honest, trustworthy and loyal".... Loyal to his loins maybe.

What's depressing me is that I have trust issues and this is making me wonder whether there is anyone out there that could be faithfull.

HoneyNutBoobs · 26/01/2012 00:09

OP I agree with you. There are so many married men on there + Escorts etc. I can't imagine ever meeting a decent chap on there although I still hold out some hope! I know too many men that have met people but then have never removed their profiles and have continued to dabble.

Having said that, the men I've met in rl have been just as bad so...'

workshy · 26/01/2012 00:09

I had a guy with facial tattoos!
wonder if it was the same one? lol

I also had one that's opening line was....

'I have a really big cock
I like to be upfront about the fact
I'm not boasting but I don't want to waste my time with a woman who is intimidated by a big cock

so do you like big cocks?'

my response was

I have a really big cock
I think you have made a mistake in your first statement, you seem to have got the word 'have' mixed up with the word 'am'!

and then I blocked him Grin

HoneyNutBoobs · 26/01/2012 00:11

Grin workshy

workshy · 26/01/2012 00:12

pmsl -all true!

Lovingfreedom · 26/01/2012 00:13

LOL!!! I wonder how much time he has wasted on other intimidated women....must be hard (erm...er...as in difficult).

ButWhyIsTheGinGone · 26/01/2012 07:07

I had a bloke message me on Match years ago elling me all about how his wife had recently passed away and basically it was really rude and insulting if I didn't reply to his message. The whole tone was horrible.

Also had a few from men with questionable usernames - "EatYouBabe69" etc.

Had a message from a man who offered to come round mine with a bottle of vodka and a pirate DVD... Romantic!

Also I once met a bloke who looked and sounded gorgeous but when I met him did Yoda impressions non-stop for about an hour...

Online dating is fun, isnt it?? Currently talking to a lovely sounding chap on OKCupid so fingers crossed.... why don't you try OKCupid too OP? It's nicer.

DearBeirdre · 26/01/2012 09:42

Erm, OP - are you aware that POF isn't exactly the site of choice for people who are looking for meaningful relationships...?

If you're actually looking online for something potentially meaningful, how about going on a "proper" dating site, instead of one that is pretty widely known as being a place to line up casual no-strings-attached sex?

averyembarrassingq · 26/01/2012 19:06

DearBeirdre,

I am aware. Was just a moment of weakness and boredom that made me do it. Plus, when I was going through an experimental stage a while back, I used the site for its only real purpose.

My original post was just an attempt at a humourous view of a wasted hour culminating in being chatted up by a bi sexual male who couldn't find any more decent men so went on to the next available thing.

Punkatheart · 26/01/2012 19:14

Workshy you have made me laugh in a day without laughs!

But even for a site nicknamed PlentyofFanny - there are some bizarre men! They are funny though!

workshy · 26/01/2012 19:41

another one on freedating.co.uk asked me what my ideal man was, so I sent back the usual, kind, funny, treats me like a lady etc etc, what about you?

and he said.....

one that is willing to wear tights with no knickers!

I actually know 3 long term couples that met on POF but most of the time it is one big knocking shop

averyembarrassingq · 26/01/2012 19:51

Workshy, can you let me have his user name please? I wear tights and no knickers......

OP posts:
Punkatheart · 26/01/2012 19:52

I wear socks. Do you think he would compromise?

averyembarrassingq · 26/01/2012 19:53

Oh Punk, not only am I in competition with men, I'm now in a stand off with you, your socks and no knickers..........

OP posts:
workshy · 26/01/2012 19:54

it was marco something lol
