Hi there..well i met this lovely person off the internet and we seem to hit it off. He's very old school romantic like Bram Strokers dracula kind of romantic.
He is 75 but still looks good on it..he hasn't got much money so befor anyone thinks i with him for money it not.
He knows i'm a single mum and he said that's not a problem. I haven't had a bloke care for me like this for a long time..do you think it matters that he's that age? Just tell me honestly..

TooEasilyTempted. It good of you to be honest , but it must be a big problem to wonder if younger person is just a gold digger wether it be male or female just waiting for Oldie to turn their toes up.Grin

I've dated a person who was 14 years older than me, and am currently dating someone 8 years older. It's all about the person, isn't just a physical thing as some people think (my sister being one of them Hmm) Being mature for my age I find an actual conversation now and again is nice.

At this moment in time I wouldn't date someone younger than myself - I'm 18.

There is 23yrs between my dh and I. I'm 23, he's 46. We get on extremely well! Nothing wrong with it!

ameliagrey · 05/01/2012 19:45

I am 40 and my current boyfriend is 33. I would go no older than maybe 5 or 6 years older than me.

why?[ shock]

ripitupandstartagain · 05/01/2012 22:15

No, absolutely not. wouldn't date someone either much younger or much older (I'm 39). Max 10 years either way, likely less.

SparkySparrow · 05/01/2012 22:18

Can I ask why ripitupandstartagain?
Surely if you get on and your happy there shouldn't be any issue.

Devendra · 05/01/2012 22:35

Go for it..

ripitupandstartagain · 05/01/2012 22:40

Yes Sparky, I feel that I want a common frame of reference with my partner and a similar set of shared experiences, and to a great extent we are a product of our time, when we grew up etc. Also, I just plain don't fancy people much older/younger, and that is very important to me. I don't have an opinion on others who feel different though.

SparkySparrow · 05/01/2012 22:49

That's fair enough. I was just curious. :) I find other people's opinions interesting.

usualsuspect · 05/01/2012 22:51

Not a 75 year old no ,not unless I was 70 anyway

Flanelle · 05/01/2012 22:52

I dated a much older man twice. Once in my teens and then last year, in my late 30s. Same bloke twice in fact :-) It's a 22 year age difference and while it is unnoticeable to me now, and was the same back in the 90s, I do begin to get a sense that to be married to an 80 year old when I'm 58 might not be the greatest thing. BUT life is weird and shit happens and you know, if you're simpatico and there's a lot of love between you then do it - because more love in the world is a good thing.

LeBOF · 05/01/2012 22:57

75 years old is less 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' and more 'Tales From The Crypt'.

likeatonneofbricks · 06/01/2012 00:44

what i found tiresome about dating a much older man (which i did recently in my late 30s) is the constant stream of memories being poured out about their youth and how great it was (what he got up to, how 60s were fun) - and aged 70 they don't remember that they repeat the same on regular basis! and this is the bloke who looked exceptionally good for his age (more like early 60s but actor-ish), it's just the brain is usually older than the body in fit ones. Plus, however fit, they tend to worry and talk about their health a lot. All becomes a big YAWN in the end, I couldn't stand it for too long (plus mine had nostalgia about women being less powerful in the past, and how hard it is to except modern mentality, and that really grated on me). Could laugh if it didn't turn very off-putting (not to mention the physiacel contrast between their body and your as a younger woman).
younger men (within reason) - definetely a better choice (as vouched for by many of my friends). But there aer always exceptions to the rule of course - is he exceptional? do you really respect him OP?

*to accept

Jasper · 06/01/2012 01:09

depends on the man. One of the most attractive and kindest men I know is 70

izzywhizzystwelfthnight · 06/01/2012 01:18

I'd date a 75 year old but I wouldn't rely on it being a long-term relationship Grin

izzywhizzystwelfthnight · 06/01/2012 01:22

Cruel but lol LeBof Grin

More like tales of the deCrypit (decrepit).

fortyplus · 06/01/2012 01:35

This reminds me of a joke I heard:

Rich 70 year old bloke walks into a bar to meet his friends - he has his new wife on his arm - a beautiful tall blonde 25 year old.

She pops to powder her nose - his friends express amazement at his good fortune and ask the secret of his success in attracting such a gorgeous young woman at his age.

He replies that he lied about his age. Friends say - 'What - you told her you were 40?'

He says 'No - I told her I was 90!'

MrsBovary · 06/01/2012 02:44

Yes.

Grin fortyplus

Curtainmyself · 06/01/2012 09:36

Really Mrs Bovary? That is quite an age difference however it's all in the mind they say.

I don't want to ask how old you are as that would be rude. Just tell us how old OH is (and we can work the rest out ourselves!)

MrsBovary · 06/01/2012 09:49

I was addressing poster fortyplus Wink

Curtainmyself · 06/01/2012 09:50

Oh

ElBurroSinNombre · 06/01/2012 11:18

Old woman and younger man in bed together.

Old woman says 'the doctor tells me I've got acute angina'

The guy says - 'Yes and for your age your tits arn't bad either!'

I'll get my coat
