you are tackling the problem, so its all downhill from now on :)

ive been at ww for a few weeks now and have just lost my first stone - i find it frustrating that its soooo slow, but at least its coming off - and to be honest i notice that my clothes are much looser now, even if its not showing so much on the scales

so, onwards and downwards - once you start eating more healthily you will feel more in control - good luck x

Wecanfixit · 13/07/2011 16:32

Ohh thanks you soo much for those words of encouragement , have last minute jitters about going ,but go I MUST, well done you on loosing your first stone and I think it has been quick if that is your first month, keep going and again BIG thanks to you.

First of all your scales may not be accurate. Secondly, if you gained weight fast you can lose it fast. But you need to change your lifestyle rather than just stick to any given diet. It's about your attitude to food and improving that. But take it a day at a time set yourself a goal and you'll get there. FWIW I lost 30lbs in one month a few months back, it's not come back and never will. I lost the ability to comfort eat.

Wecanfixit · 13/07/2011 16:48

okay I agree about the lifestyle , had been socialising and eating out alot did not help pile the pounds, mm sure the scales are nearly right am afraid, Wow
you have really shed alot of weight congratulations on that, and yea i get the bit about comfort eating , will need to change my mindset on this , but as you say one day at a time. Thanks for the encouragement and support it means so much .

You didn't put on the weight in a moment so it's not going to come off overnight either. The important thing is that you're being proactive and making changes to what/how much you eat and hopefully doing additional exercise too.

Good luck.

I went to WW for a similar reason-I was 'morbidly obese'!!It took nearly a year but I lost 3 stones.I am now struggling to keep it off as meeting times no longer convenient.Just follow the plan and it is impossible to fail.

Wecanfixit · 13/07/2011 17:46

Thanks 2 you both and yea i know it will be a slow process , but as long as it is steady and your right their eating plan is great I did it many years ago thought i had cracked it! just shows you never advoid those scales!

I started WW in January this year, I'm now 4stone lighter. Have 2 more stone to go. It feels great, slow but great! Good luck!

Fairenuff · 13/07/2011 18:31

Wow HG that's a fantastic accomplishment, well done.

I have lost and kept off a measly half a stone since January but I know I haven't been trying as hard as I might.

The annoying things is I HAD lost 2 and half stone but put 2 of it back on. DOH!

Changing lifestyle and eating habits is definately the best way to go for long term weight loss.

BarbieLovesKen · 13/07/2011 19:43

I thought weight watchers was slow at the time but when i look back it's not really. Loosing an average of 2lbs a week (sometimes a little more or less), I lost 7 stone in 10 months on ww. I went from a size 20 to a 10 (8 in some tops).

Don't loose sight or think how long it's going to take - every single day that you stick to it, you're getting smaller - then proofs on the scales each week. Looking at the full amount you have to loose can be very daunting - set yourself mini goals I.e getting down to the next size, the next stone, a certain weight you were at a certain time.

Well done on starting - Eyes on the prize!!

HairyGrotter · 13/07/2011 19:44

Wowzers BLK! Well done!

I set mini goals, like each silver 7, then trying to get to the next stone etc. Makes it seem quicker and more obtainable.

Keep at it, and it will work!

Nagini · 13/07/2011 19:45

Bloody hell barbie

Go OP! :)

EveryonesJealousOfWeasleys · 13/07/2011 19:47

whomoved how did you train yourself to stop comfort eating? I need the secret! :)

Fairenuff · 13/07/2011 19:50

Hmmmm, am now feeling really inspired to get serious about this weight loss malarky. Is there a support thread going on somewhere, or could this be it?

HairyGrotter · 13/07/2011 19:50

There is a WW support thread on MN. Many use it and find it really helpful!

Wecanfixit · 13/07/2011 22:14

Just been for First meeting at WW very encouraging and setting yourself realistic goals , like a 1Ib a week , seems do able, nothing to life threatening and not deny yourslef of anything, just switching to healthier choices, mmm well glad i went so here goes ........................roll on next week to see if I have achieved just a little lose in weight, good luck to you all and thanks again for the encouragement.

HairyGrotter · 14/07/2011 08:08

You'll do great if you stick with it, just increase your activity a bit each week and it'll drop off. It's a really easy plan to follow, gives you the chance to eat well but also treat yourself.

Good luck!

Fairenuff · 14/07/2011 17:53

HG thanks for the info. I have found the WW thread and am joining in Smile

FlamingFanjo · 15/07/2011 11:34

I've been yoyo dieting for years and I had tried every diet invented including the stupid 'don't eat anything until you almost pass out' diet Wink

Where I work, a lady who is a hypnotherapist opened up a clinic and she specialises in weight loss. I managed to get a bit of a deal and since I started seeing her in Feb I've lost 51lbs, which is 3st 9lbs. This time also includes a 2 week holiday in California where I ate what I wanted...and I only put on 1 lb. How cool is that!

She has helped me deal with my food related issues....who knew I had so many! I feel like I've found a way of eating that I can live with everyday for the rest of my life. I eat out regularly, have a glass of wine (or 3) too so nothing is denied.

I still have a long way to go but I'm confident I can do this AND maintain it.

Good luck with WW and just go for it!

SootySweepandSue · 15/07/2011 11:46

Whomoved- yes please share how to stop comfort eating?

cherryburton · 15/07/2011 11:48

WMMC - you lost 30lbs in a month? How, how?! Grin

chubsasaurus · 15/07/2011 11:59

Oooh best of luck. I love losing weight. Lost a stone over the past 5 weeks but that;s mostly down to the heartbreak diet.

Hope it goes well!

whomovedmychocolate · 15/07/2011 16:50

Paul McKenna - I went to the seminar and I used the CDs and honestly it was the easiest thing I have ever done. It just no longer makes sense to me to comfort eat. I can't do it. The swallowing down of feelings with chocolate just seems daft to me know (I do understand what it's like and I've been there, please don't feel I'm mocking you but it is fixable - it's just a learned habit).

There are lots of Paul Mckenna progress threads on here. Go have a look on them. There are a lot of us with a lot of success.

cherryburton · 15/07/2011 17:21

Bugger. I tried Paul McKenna and only ate when I was hungry and until I was full and managed to put on weight!

That's amazing that you had such good results though. Maybe I'll pull the cd back out and have another go...

whomovedmychocolate · 15/07/2011 18:34

You may find the seminar a good investment. The tickets tend to be £100 and they give you five CDs which are better than the ones in the book.
