Splitting up, not married...please help

Im a regular but have changed my name for this because my DP (soon to be ex) knows my usual nickname and I don't want him to see this.

We have a year old son, we are't married and we're going to split up. This is at my instigation. He's gone into work, which is what he usually does when he wants to avoid facing up to something.

He's told me he wants custody and move away back to his family. I don't know what my rights are but I don't want him to take our son away.

If anyone has any advice, please, please help. Thank you.

Well, they said no but you don't get anything if you don't ask. The flat I saw was gorgeous so I've taken it and we're moving in on Sunday, which is good.

Unfortunately, I had a massive, massive row with my mum last night (see the BLOODY ANGRY thread for details!)

She accused me of being extremely selfish and irresponsible. Oh well.

Anyone around? I'm having a bit of day...and I have to pack for Sunday.

Just been told I might qualify for Housing Benefit on the basis of having a low salary. Any idea what the threshold is?
