Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you would love to attend Pip's wedding with Natasha and the starry twins, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-12-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Starting the new thread a bit early as I'm not sure I'll have much internet access for the next few days. Fill up the old one first. And then - over to you!

(Credit for the thread title goes to @TripleSulko.)

Thanks Gasp

Good title @TripleSulko !

I think Pip & Stella caved too quickly about the twins. Does that mean that Henry and Jack are also now invited and what about Martha ?

Stella should have stuck to her guns

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/09/2026 19:53

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Flowers

DaisyZulu · 22/09/2026 19:54

Natasha had a fair poing about Rosie! How boring to be the only child at a wedding!! Jack and Henry are older probably wouldnt enjoy it anyway HOWEVER how Natasha thought her precious babies were invited is a bit mad...

BeaLola · 22/09/2026 20:14

Re Ambridge Hall - if they don’t want to continue the B&B what about longer “tenants” - eg Fallon ?
And perhaps unpopular but sell off part of their garden/land ?

Pip putting on that faux posh voice she uses sometimes.

Thank you for the new thread. Go well, @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g.

It does look as if every child in the village will be at the wedding now.

However, although I gave the notion no credence before, as the date approaches I begin to feel great interest in Anna and Stella’s eyes meeting over the posh chocolates in the village shop …

Brefugee · 23/09/2026 09:54

Checking in. Disappointed, yet again that Jolene didn't acknowledge International Talk Like A Pirate Day on 19th Sep

ExitPursuedByABare · 23/09/2026 10:05

Thanks for the new thread @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Hope all goes ok.

It takes ages to buy and sell houses. In fact, I thought you were not allowed to view unless your own house was on the market. This could be hearsay …..

That's not true you can view a property any time just to see what's out there. You can make an offer before selling your house but might lose it to a buyer who can come up with the dosh sooner. You might even be in a position to buy without selling your current property.

Driving home just now when Justin Elliott came on the radio pretending to be Captain Hastings in a Poirot play.
I don't like it when Archers characters escape Ambridge.

ExOptimist · 23/09/2026 19:30

Have I missed something? Since when was Carol a full-on pagan who would want a funeral full of incantations and releases of glowworms? It's quite bonkers unless she actually was a pagan. I'm quite surprised Anna thinks it's appropriate. Is the funeral going to take place in the evening? Otherwise how is everyone supposed to be watching the "natural fireworks display" of a meteor shower?

muddyford · 23/09/2026 19:45

I'm looking forward to the sacrifice of Pip.

It is true in some cases. Given the current market, some sellers won't entertain viewings unless the viewers have agreed the sale of their own property.

SophiaRose91 · 23/09/2026 21:52

New here, hello all!
Im glad Carole has gone, it was painful listening to her constant moaning. The weird funeral plans seem like they have been thrown together last minute? Glow worms? Amber can’t seem to decide if she is in labour or not, and I’m assuming now George is going to start feeling as though he is not as helpful to Amber as Brad is and will feel agitated about it!

TottersBlankly · 23/09/2026 23:31

Welcome @SophiaRose91!

I guess we can expect to hear Kate as celebrant eventually? Google tells me celebrants might charge £300 per funeral - so if she establishes herself it could be useful extra income now that King Brian has gone completely mad and is scuppering her business.

He has form for this. I think Captain James Bellamy was out of order to leave 165 Eaton Place and relocate to Ambridge and reinvent himself as Justin Elliot.
