Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you think working as a hotel receptionist is a perfectly reasonable career choice for a graduate from a family with a stately home, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-12-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Over to you!

Presumably so one bride's parents can relax on the day rather than be ‘on duty’?

Though more probably because there’s a plot that works better at LL?

EBearhug · 20/09/2026 19:50

BeardieWeirdie · 20/09/2026 19:27

Team Stella! I hardly think “bride’s cousin’s children” counts in the bracket of treasured “family children” for the sake of limited wedding invites.

And why on earth is the wedding being held at ££££ Lower Loxley rather than the family’s own wedding venue? Ridiculous.

Has Elizabeth offered it for free/wedding gift?

BeardieWeirdie · 20/09/2026 20:46

Have you met Elizabeth? 🤣
TBF she might have and I missed it but that seems highly out of character.

JoelenesParrot · 20/09/2026 21:17

I’m sure Pip would want to be married on the farm where she grew up and which she presumably loves. I don’t really care though as I couldn’t have less interest in this wedding- I really want an update on the implosion of the Aldridges instead. Surely that’s far more important than Pip and Stella’s guest list?

George has had a strange PT. It was very out of character for him to go all sentimental and say he was fine with not inheriting anything of monetary value from Eddie. George would be far more likely to make a bitter observation about how it’s only people like the Archers who inherit anything useful and that doesn’t happen to the likes of the Grundies.

MathiasBroucek · 20/09/2026 21:32

So, a character dies and we spend half an episode talking about another character who died several years ago. What?!

Darker · 20/09/2026 21:39

Carol’s legacy to Anna is self doubt, but Joe’s legacy is belonging?

Mulledjuice · 20/09/2026 21:40

if they held it at Brookfield who would run it?

MistressMerkin · 20/09/2026 22:00

Is that Kirsty I've just heard in The Blame on ITV??

Every1ElseInKnowsley · 20/09/2026 22:02

Mulledjuice · 20/09/2026 21:40

if they held it at Brookfield who would run it?

Joy and Mick, obviously.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/09/2026 22:10

I'm expecting Joy to officiate. She'll probably also make the wedding cake and the brides' outfits, and find time to do the video on the side.

But she won’t have time as surely she’ll be investigating Carol’s overpayment to Alan whilst providing counselling to Fallon and Harrison?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/09/2026 22:17

A superwoman like Joy can do anything she puts her mind to. 'If you want something done, pet, you have to ask a busy woman!' as she would no doubt say.

Child free weddings are unreasonable.

IMHO

JudyCoolibar · 20/09/2026 23:02

NetballHoop · 20/09/2026 17:45

If they do go down the line of Anna accusing Alan of swindling Carol, which I hope they don't, there's also the grim possibility of her accusing him of killing her while alone with her in an attempt to keep the money.
Sorry. I've been reading too many crime stories.

Seems unlikely, in the middle of a busy ward with nurses around.

WitcheryDivine · 20/09/2026 23:06

Child free wedding where one of the brides has a child who will attend is just… what’s the point? I always presumed the point with child free weddings is you had more booze, more glam decor maybe, a general grown up atmosphere. One plump little Rosie would scotch that anyway so why stop at her.

LillianGish · 20/09/2026 23:26

Eastie77Returns · 20/09/2026 19:18

How does a wedding with no children when one of the brides has a child actually work? Stella sounded really unpleasant.

Stella hates children - including Rosie. I love the idea that the whole Carole nonsense was purely so Anna would have reason to be in the village and run off with Stella. Anna is a real lesbian unlike TWFL who is just playing at it.

I've only ever been to child-free weddings.

BeatriceBatchelor · 21/09/2026 03:08

I can't imagine Stella giving up the Brookfield heiress for a barrister.

AgentKim · 21/09/2026 05:27

At my wedding my sisters grand children were left to run amok and ruined all the table decorations and were just pests. I dont think my niece even apologised.
I think if you were told no children at your wedding you either go or not go, you dont stand and argue with the bride or groom.
Natasha is a bit out of order to not just say ok. I will sort something out.
Weddings are stressful enough with out guests being a pain, and thinking its all about them.

This is why I listen on iPlayer so I can skip

BrightYellowDaffodil · 21/09/2026 07:01

Stella and Pip are entirely reasonable to have a childfree wedding - I’ve known several ceremonies where babies have cried through, drowning out the vows, while a smiling parent jiggles them about looking round at the congregation as if everyone is enjoying their child’s wails. Or older children talking loudly (“Mummy, that lady has a very big hat, hasn’t she Mummy!”) and either not being removed or just being removed to the back of the room and then allowed to make even more noise.

You just KNOW Natasha will be one of those indulgent parents.

Geronimode · 21/09/2026 07:16

When Natasha said won’t Rosie be bored I thought no as I bet Lottie’s invited. Pip’s single mum best friend and Rosie’s best friend - makes sense. I know Stella did say how would others feel to Natasha if the twins came but still…

Excellent point. I'd forgotten that aspect.

Natasha will take massive offence if that's the case. I quite fancy a Natasha/Pip feud storyline, I hope Natasha wins.

JoelenesParrot · 21/09/2026 10:43

Sorry to come back to this again but I still can’t get over them having the wedding at LL and not on the farm. Families quite often organise weddings themselves rather than needing to outsource so they can ‘relax on the day’. And it couldn’t be easier as they have all the necessary infrastructure in place already. Won’t Pip want to arrive at the church in a ribbon-bedecked tractor? And guests will want to languish on hay bales outside the barn. I don’t get it. Ruth/David/Pip/Stella could easily arrange everything and make it all run smoothly with a bit of help from Kenton and the Pirate doing the bar/catering.
