All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love a couple of acquaintances to clean and tidy your house without your permission, or other unusual views.

Spoilers: not on this thread, please! What do we think - best Christmas ever followed by a nice quiet New Year? No, me neither. We have the tractor run to look forward to , and then whatever they've got lined up for the 75th anniversary of the first ever episode - New Year's Day 1951. I can't imagine that anybody involved with the programme then expected it would still be on the air 75 years later. I wonder what they would make of the current direction. The lack of farming content would be a surprise, given that was the whole reason for devising the programme in the first place.

Well, at least of those in favour of decking George has grown with the addition of Jazzer. And the wedding appears to be off.
Amber is bloody dreadful, and George is more on the money than he knows in warning Brad about her.

In other news I really like Rex, and always have. TA needs more of him.

Back in the sixties I knew someone with grey-going-white hair who decided to use henna. Her hair went pink. Pink hair was not as usual then as it is now.

What date is that Archers' schedule for?

Oh bloody hell the archers podcast is now being aired on normal radio?

Well I suppose it's cost cutting, as well as those desperate reminders that the BBC is meant for all of you.

They were so anxious this morning about an item on the founding of England under Aethelstan they opted to counter it straight after with Michael sheen doing some rant from a Welsh poet

I enjoyed the Michael Sheen ranty thing but blamed it on the 'guessed' editor.

New Year's Day is the 75th anniversary, hence all the extra stuff.

I’ve been silent on here and not listening for ages but must admit this storyline is drawing me back in …. As long as they don’t shoehorn Joy in somehow.

That episode was worth it for hearing Jazzer sending George off with his tail between his legs.

I think Amber is one of those girls who craves drama and being at the center of it all...she's very lacking in self esteem with some deep rooted childhood issues.

I'm still convinced there will be an Alice - Rex romance in the new year

Oh no… I think it’s going to be a murrrrrderrrr and all the drop ins are going to be different people finding out and conjecturing about what’s going on… too many hints (as someone said earlier it’s like Adolescence) ….

oh dear. I know Amber is Insta-annoying but I kind of wanted her to redeem George and for them to make good and prove everyone wrong. Well I shall listen with interest.

I like the podcast, and am OK with it being on but I wouldn't be happy with the schedule if I didn't listen to TA.

Quite like the podcast being on radio as it means DF can listen to it now as well as I haven't been able to get him going with the app however hard I try. I think he would enjoy the podcast especially the old clips they play.

I'm assuming there will be George related drama and the drop ins will be panicking headless chickens.
Either George goes on the rampage, or someone attacks him and he nearly dies, or he attempts suicide (or a combination).
I could see him taking Eddie's gun (does Eddie have a gun?) Wounding various people, then turning it on himself.
I hope no deaths.

Interesting that Debbie is in the village atm. Maybe she'll get dedded in the slipstream of whatever George does. It would be a cue for much lamentation, but quite cheap since we needn't hear her. I'm one of those oddballs who have never liked her voice, so I'd be quite consolable as long as we lost George as well.

I doubt they will have any kind of suicide as they covered that years ago with Greg. Also I think I remember Will having suicidal thoughts after Nic died.
Wouldn't surprise me if George did acquire a gun and ended up holding Brad's household in a siege situation.

Surely George's threatening behaviour, with witnesses this time, is going to end with him being returned to prison. Or castrated. Or both.

We can but hope.
