Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to be in Jolene's choir , or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Well, we made it through Stir Up Sunday without bloodshed, but poor Ben is now in the grip of psychotic depression. Not going to be a happy Christmas at Brookfield, sadly. When will Jill swallow her pride and go and give him the abject apology he deserves? Would it be a good idea anyway for Ben to see his gran at the moment?

Will Jazzer say yes? I hope so. We could do with a Horrobin wedding to look forward to.

Will Emma and Ed end up in court if they go ahead with this idiotic scheme to nick the logs from Peggy's Folly?

Will the two choirs put on a joint concert at Christmas? I assume so, and also that the BBC will continue to fool nobody by using recordings of what is clearly a really good well-rehearsed established choir, not a scratch choir of half a dozen novices.

Over to you!

Tonight's episode is already available in my BBC sounds, I thought I'd got my days mixed up!

Is it there for anyone else?

Yes, it’s there. I’m not listening until tomorrow morning though, as usual, why spoil a Sunday?

Gonners · 18/12/2022 11:19

Yes, it's there for me too - in fact I've just listened. The omnibus isn't available though. It looks as though someone's slipped up.

AlexCabot · 18/12/2022 11:22

I always listen the morning after so I genuinely thought it was Monday for a good five minutes.

Shock

TottersBlankly · 18/12/2022 12:53

Nope!

Gonners · 18/12/2022 12:57

Nope, no spoiling done. My remark about someone slipping up referred to whoever pushed the button to release the episode online before it was broadcast.

JanglyBeads · 18/12/2022 13:15

(It was more the "intriguing" comment)

TottersBlankly · 18/12/2022 13:29

Oh … @JanglyBeads - I honestly thought it was so ridiculously vague and multipurpose no one could possibly find it a spoilering comment. Couldn’t one say that of every single episode pre-broadcast? Don’t we expect them to be intriguing at the very least? (I wasn’t planning to expand on that observation.)

Sincere apologies if the word suggests anything unanticipated.

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/12/2022 13:54

I imagined the coat as being a quilted down coat in emerald green.

@MereDintofPandiculation , the montbeliard herd was introduced at a pont when the agricultural advisor was a freelance journalist also contributing to Farming Today.

AlexCabot · 18/12/2022 14:28

I quite enjoyed the bit when Vince was visited by three ghosts.....

I am obviously joking. Not a spoiler'

girlwhowearsglasses · 18/12/2022 15:51

The coats are deffo Canada Goose

I can't remember - when Will and Nic Grundy were caught on camera having sex in the woods, what happened? Did Will know he'd been caught?

Was it just Lynda Snell who saw the previous Grundy sex tape?

OverArmour · 18/12/2022 17:25

When you’re not a lifelong listener and are now scarred for life. 😂

KeepingTheWaterOut · 18/12/2022 17:32

For one brother to have been caught shagging his wife on a wildlife camera may be regarded as a misfortune; for it to happen to both looks like carelessness.

SnowlayRoundabout · 18/12/2022 17:35

So we're either going to get George being mortified by the thought of his crush object being shagged by his father; or George realising it must have been his mum (because he knows she took part in the log theft) and having a dilemma about whether to shop her in order to protect Fallon's honour. Or maybe both, I wouldn't put it past the SWs.

Lowfield, Friday 8th June, 2012
"Kirsty has dropped off the film from the cameras trying to track the Beast. Kirsty hasn't had chance to watch it yet so Susan and Lynda have a quick look on the pc in the shop. Initially they don't find anything but Lynda sees something. It's not an animal - it is Nic and Will, err, in the woods. Susan thinks it's all wildlife...."

It doesn't seem to have been mentioned again, at least not during June or July that year and I cba to look any further; Ben found a dead sheep that had been savaged by dogs, and the focus shifted to his nightmares about that and then to the general terrorising of Brookfield over Adam having been coshed and David being a witness.

Poppy happened

SnowlayRoundabout · 18/12/2022 17:57

Does Jill know about Ben's illness, and in particular that he was suicidal? Continuing her sulk in those circumstances is surely incredibly crass?

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/12/2022 18:00

Given that Ben asked Leonard to not tell Jill, I'd think not.

TottersBlankly · 18/12/2022 18:13

(Presumably she’s ‘continuing her sulk’ because the actress can barely speak atm?)

You would think David or Ruth would have told her. Everyone in the village seems to know he's had problems.

JanglyBeads · 18/12/2022 18:22

I wasn't truly criticising re the comment, sorry!

Had completely forgotten about the previous Grundy videoed "logging"....

TottersBlankly · 18/12/2022 18:26
Xmas Grin

I need reminding about the Will and Nic thing …

Poppy happened

Not as a result of an occasion in June 2012; Poppy was born at the end of September 2013.
