New posters welcome - with your fresh views and burning questions.

Old posters welcome - with your jaded views and knowledgeable answers.

But new posters feel free to be jaded, and old posters feel free to ask questions!

How is the Pip storyline going to play out and do you care?

As usual, if you want to mention the advertised storylines for future episodes, there's a separate thread for that - no spoilers here, please.

Just imagine we're all sitting round a table at The Bull --> Archers

I had a scan when I had a termination. This was nine years ago though.

Puremince · 15/01/2018 09:24

Entirely unconvincing that Tom would have to ask what kimchi was

Tom asked Peggy if she knew what kim-chi was, so that he could tell her.

LillianGish · 15/01/2018 09:40

No disrespect to the kimchi fan downthread, but If Ambridge didn’t embrace kefir, I don’t see them falling in love with kimchi - that really is a very acquired taste. Tom’s problem is that Ambridge isn’t going to be his target market, but that is where he is going to do his testing.

BertrandRussell · 15/01/2018 09:47

Echt- can you post a kimchi recipe? I’ve always wanted to try it.

Aethelthryth · 15/01/2018 09:50

Looking forward to Susan trying desperately to get her head round Kimchi. It is quite good to have an Ambridge business proposition struggle a bit, although I suppose Tom's sausages have had difficulties too. Most (Helen's cheese, Fallon's cafe and up cycling, Toby's gin, Josh's eggs) seem to thrive a bit too easily

Pollution will be Brine's fault.

I don't like Peggy much generally but she seems benign at the moment- making Jill pull herself together, encouraging Jenny to see that Kate rather than Noli is being a brat

lostinspaceyetagain · 15/01/2018 10:09

Wont Pip have had a scan when she went for an abortion?
I doubt it. they didn't use to anyway.

I think that they scan to check that the pregnancy is within the legal termination dates.

lostinspaceyetagain · 15/01/2018 10:10

I think that they scan to check that the pregnancy is within the legal termination dates.

And of course that you are actually pregnant.

Fink · 15/01/2018 10:32

She did have a scan, that's what the abortion nurse was using for dating. I don't know if she saw it.

glamorous, I think what your daughter was told has got a bit mangled in transmission. This article in Scientifc American says that it seems that the father has no influence on the chance of twins, although he can pass the tendency to his daughters. Another major factor is maternal age; a woman who gives birth at 37 is four times more likely to have fraternal twins than at age 18, although she is also more likely to be unable to conceive, since many women's ovaries are already starting to fail at that age. The third major risk factor is race; West Africans are ten times more likely to have fraternal twins than Chinese or Japanese, with Caucasians intermediate. Some increased chance is also seen in African-Americans.

None of this affects chances of having identical twins, which seems to be mostly a matter of chance.

If your daughter had fraternal (non-identical) twins, that happened because when she ovulated there were two eggs available to be fertilised. That couldn't be influenced by her partner and therefore his mother's twin genes were also irrelevant. Only her own genes were involved, passed down from you and her father.

Probably highly relevant to your granddaughter, though, (if you have one) who now has twins on both side of her family!

I've seen kefir occasionally in supermarkets - I wondered whether they were taking advantage of the fact that TA has raised awareness a bit. I'm quite surprised that Tom hasn't been hawking it around the local towns rather than the farm shop. Or are we supposed to assume that he has and it's done just as badly there?

TaurielTest · 15/01/2018 14:47

Just listening to the film - I find Roy's particular brand of aggressive bafflement so repulsive. "Whoah. Eggs? Donors? You're doing me head in" (through a mouthful of banitsa).

BashStreetKid · 15/01/2018 15:39

That's the trouble, Roy does tend to sound like a petulant child when he isn't getting his own way.

extinctspecies · 15/01/2018 17:02

Kefir is trendy right now.

As is Kimchi.

This is why you are hearing about it on the Archers &s being it in supermarkets. One is not the cause of the other.

Is there an academic archers study on sales of geese for Christmas 2016 compared with previous years I wonder? We had it for the first and last time due to the Fair brethren.

TheAntiBoop · 15/01/2018 19:07

Why is anisha having all these days off when she had been gone so long?

Bad acting from pip again

Toby and Rex are getting better together. i just can't bear the way they both fawn over pip

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2018 19:19

At least Lexi isn't having the baby.

R4 · 15/01/2018 19:22

What is the point of all these women offering to be Ian'n'Adam's surrogate and then withdrawing the offer? Is it supposed to increase our empathy towards them and their plight, because it's not. It just feels like weird groundhog day.

Holliewantstobehot · 15/01/2018 19:32

I want Toby to man up and tell Pip/David that he will be involved with his child and if they stop him he will go to court.

I also want someone to tell Kate that actually she has been a crappy mum and that she ought to be making the effort to build bridges with her daughter before its too late.

But I won't hold my breath.

Oh and someone to tell Ruth and David that Pip is not 15 years old and preg but an adult who needs to be left to get on with things by herself.

Fisticuffs between Roy and Ian at GG when Ian finds out Lexi would've been their surrogate if Roy hadn't objected.

Vango · 15/01/2018 19:39

Lexi will definitely have that baby.

lostinspaceyetagain · 15/01/2018 19:42

Fisticuffs between Roy and Ian at GG when Ian finds out Lexi would've been their surrogate if Roy hadn't objected.

And Ian will be arrested and then be unable to adopt/foster.

LizzieSiddal · 15/01/2018 19:47

Excuse me for bursting in, I have listened to tonight’s yet, but could Kirsty’s discovery be something to do with Rob and his dirty dealings. My first thought was the poor polish man who disappeared.

Fink · 15/01/2018 19:48

I also want someone to tell Kate that actually she has been a crappy mum

That was what really surprised me in yesterday's ep: Jenny siding with Kate over Noluthando. I always got the impression before then Jenny saw right through Kate and did indeed think she was a crap mum, but there she was saying that Noluthando had been unfair to her.

newtlover · 15/01/2018 21:23

Gasp, you got there first with clearing up the twins issue Grin
there'snothing like having twins for being exposed to people's poor understanding of the biology of reproduction and genetics. I have (non identical) twins, you would be amazed by the 'nudge nudge wink wink' reactions DP (male) got, as if it was some amazing feat on his part.

Roy is outrageous in his proprietorial attitude!

TheAntiBoop · 15/01/2018 21:41

Lexie's family must have had a bigger impact. Her mum had a point
