New posters welcome - with your fresh views and burning questions.

Old posters welcome - with your jaded views and knowledgeable answers.

But new posters feel free to be jaded, and old posters feel free to ask questions!

How is the Pip storyline going to play out and do you care?

As usual, if you want to mention the advertised storylines for future episodes, there's a separate thread for that - no spoilers here, please.

Just imagine we're all sitting round a table at The Bull --> Archers

Cake for breakfast?

Aethelthryth · 11/01/2018 09:45

Pip: "I really want to hear how you feel about this"
Brief pause
Pip:" I'll tell you all about how I feel about this."

Ghastly

Oh God, I cannot take 9 months of a pregnant Pip doing that stuttering voice: ab, er, well, er, wha.....the cliches, the amazing birth recovery, Ruth's cow voice - Oooer, there baebee, steady there ooold thingg...the childcare fairy, just popping out for half a day Ben/Gran/Mum/Dad/Josh/Toby/Rex/Alice/Lily etc etc can look after it, the employment fairy, we'll just get cover for 6 months, no financial impact, Pips need for constant affirmation from everyone around her, the incessant neediness, the fact that she's going to be seen as another 'doggedly independent' single mother when she lives with her parents and has 16 people helping her out......thank god for Susan is all I can say.

Bekabeech · 11/01/2018 10:17

Well I was wondering about Post Natal depression - especially when Helen said it will all be fine. Because some people don't instantly fall in love with their babies.
Or what about one with reflux, my first couldn't be put down without crying and was very vomity. Or the baby who walks at 10 pm ready to party.

TheAntiBoop · 11/01/2018 11:19

It's about time we had a high needs baby on TA. Suspect pip would do a lot of storming out because she can't deal with it

There was a theory yonks ago about how no women were ever allowed to escape Ambridge - except maybe Debbie and Brenda. It seems like its all coming up again - only goal is to marry, have sprogs etc etc

birdsdestiny · 11/01/2018 13:24

I do think that's true, However Pip was never going to escape Ambridge she is the future of Brookfield after all.

DoctorTwo · 11/01/2018 13:24

I thought Pip's reveal to her parents was toe(bee) curlingly awful, almost as bad as Deevid was over acted.

cathf · 11/01/2018 13:41

I do think the actress who plays Pip delivers her lines in a very strange way.
I know they read the scripts, but she sounds as if she does just that, complete with all the err ... um ... and unnatural breaks

meredintofpandiculation · 11/01/2018 14:52

I found myself wondering about Susan's accent today. It's not Borsetshire. Not even Felpersham or Borchester. Anyone have any idea where she's supposed to be from?

Butteredparsn1ps · 11/01/2018 16:24

She's a Horrobin though. So a lower class sort of Borsetshirearian, which listeners must be constantly reminded of through her cun'ry vowels.

meredintofpandiculation · 11/01/2018 16:37

She's a Horrobin though. So a lower class sort of Borsetshirearian, which listeners must be constantly reminded of through her cun'ry vowels. Yeah, but even lower class Borsetshireans don't sound like that. She sounds like "generalised inner city a long way from Borsetshire"

MikeUniformMike · 11/01/2018 16:45

I hate the way the lower orders say "Me and ... were ". The worst culprit is Emmur.

extinctspecies · 11/01/2018 16:50

That's the Scriptwriters' view of how they speak though M-U-M. Not very typical in my little rural backwater somewhere near Borsetshire.

meredintofpandiculation · 11/01/2018 17:39

Who do we reckon has got the best Borsetshire accent?

RockNRollNerd · 11/01/2018 18:47

I did enjoy Susan talking about her late night data analysis when the actress who plays her is a real research scientist who has probably crunched numbers late into the night many times.

Am surprised Peggy didn’t point out that if her branch of the family can love a rapist’s baby Jill can surely manage to tolerate a Fairbaby.

R4 · 11/01/2018 18:47

Who do we reckon has got the best Borsetshire accent?

The irony is that, in RL, Pip is from Borsetshire.

BashStreetKid · 11/01/2018 20:07

In Pip's shoes, I'd be wary of taking Helen for a role model anyway. I really wouldn't want to follow in the footsteps of someone whose experience of single parenthood led her straight into the path of an arsehole emotional abuser who seriously damaged her child.

EsmesBees · 11/01/2018 20:08

I wonder if Toby is going to change his mind about being involved? And even if they will get back together. It could be that that causes drama with David and Jill. It all seems a bit of a damp squib so far.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/01/2018 20:33

Cake for breakfast appeared to be a big thing in the hotels where we stayed in Sicily last year. Don't know if that's just a hotel thing though.

I'm always happiest when there's a lot of focus on Home Farm and Brian. Kate has no redeeming features at all, has she? Pleased to hear Alice refusing a drink, though.

Kenton was showing his nasty side too, I thought. He was as good as gloating about Pip's situation.

birdsdestiny · 11/01/2018 20:45

Cake for breakfast is a thing in Germany if that's any help.

extinctspecies · 11/01/2018 21:11

What is a muffin if it's not cake for breakfast?

BashStreetKid · 11/01/2018 21:12

If it's an English muffin, I'd put it more in the bread category.

extinctspecies · 11/01/2018 21:48

Not an English muffin.

A blueberry muffin. Or chocolate. Or raspberry and lemon.
