Bridge Farm used to run their own dairy herd but gave it up. They now buy in milk for yoghurt, cheese, etc. Is the land ex-dairy, that is now being used by Tony for his hobby farming of beef cattle? Is that why he felt compelled to vote against his instincts - because it was his little retirement indulgence which could be better utilised as his DCs' capital-for-investment.
Tom and Helen run a different farm from Pat and Tony's day, with plans to make it even more different. They are heading into Lower Loxley / Spiritual Home territory with their conference/training/workshop angle.

ppeatfruit · 22/06/2017 11:41

Ah but the rare orchid will probably put the kibosh on anyone's plans to develop. That'll serve them greedy types right !

R4 · 22/06/2017 11:47

That's an interesting thought. Especially if it is Kirsty who blows the whistle.

There was no mention in Tony's negotiations of the £30k upfront so they would lose the whole lot.

CeciledeVolanges · 22/06/2017 11:52

Dad at the moment they probably get subsidyfor running it as agricultural land. And the imminence of HS2 means there will probably be a significant uplift in the land value in the future.

TheAntiBoop · 22/06/2017 12:29

So do they only get the 900k of planning permission is granted?

I can't bear the financial hardship sl's - Kenton, Brookfield etc where they spend before they've earnt on fripperies

RubyRoseRing · 22/06/2017 17:06

What gets me is PatnTonemoaning about 'losing' £1m. Yet only 2 weeks ago they didn't want to sell the land at all.

impostersyndrome · 22/06/2017 17:24

Let alone the lunacy of the pub supporting the gin production folly. Does nobody in Ambridge have any business sense? Or is this a BBC advanced lesson following Dragons Den: how not to lose money once you have a going concern.

And I so wanted that arrogant prat Tobeeeey to get his comeuppance!

AdalindSchade · 22/06/2017 19:30

Was that a reference to post brexit racism/xenophobia?

Lexi+Roy sitting in a tree?

TheAntiBoop · 22/06/2017 19:33

She doesn't sound like a lexi and she sounds quite old. I missed who she is though!

Still think the future Lord of the manor should end up with an Eastern European wife.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/06/2017 20:14

At first I thought Lexi and Pheebs might be about to provide the long-awaited Sapphic love storyline.

But then Roy turned up and I now think he and Lexi will find lurve.

polyhymnia · 22/06/2017 21:01

Who is Lexi???

Imbroglio · 22/06/2017 22:58

Lexi is the pickers team leader and future Mrs Tucker

Ceto · 22/06/2017 23:05

Tom got incredibly self-righteous about the Dopeys losing his family a few thousand pounds and how they should pay it all back. Now he's lost his family a hundred grand, I wonder what he's going to do to make up for that?

JessieMcJessie · 22/06/2017 23:43

2 things:

  1. whoever was playing Lexi was clearly a British person doing a shockingly bad "generic Eastern European" accent! I actually wondered if it was the Anisha actress doubling up at a few points.
  1. If I recall correctly , Bridge Farm was a tenant farm until 10 or so years ago when the family got the mortgage to buy it. Would the valuation at that time not have taken into account the development potential of the land? It seems as if they were all just bumbling along oblivious to it until Justin pointed out that they were potentiallly sitting on a goldmine.
EBearhug · 22/06/2017 23:49

Didn't they just remortgage because of all the legal fees? Should have come up then, too.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/06/2017 02:21

Lexi is played by Ania Sowinski.

The interweb reveals that she is London born and bred and speaks English and Polish.

www.jonathanarun.com/clients/actresses/item/ania-sowinski.html

I agree that her accent sounded ... unconvincing

DadDadDad · 23/06/2017 07:53

I think you meant unconwinsking Grin.

I also thought at one point that it sounded like Anisha doing the part.

AdalindSchade · 23/06/2017 08:22

Wow. For a person presumably of polish descent who speaks polish her accent didn't half sound Russian

MoominFlaps · 23/06/2017 08:23

Eugh, hearing kissing on the radio is just gross.

MrsArthurShappey · 23/06/2017 10:10

I thought Lexi was Anisha too, had to check the cast list. So Lexi + Roy seems pretty likely. All this talk of Freddie resitting his Maths AGAIN - is the widow Pargetter going to get Ifti back to tutor him? Oh I hope so!

ppeatfruit · 23/06/2017 12:00

Lexi sounded good to me, Slavic languages are quite similar anyway. So she could sound a little Russian.

Talk about kiss and run, Anisha's a bit flighty isn't she ? (to say the least). I reckon the kiss was quite tasteful. If I were Rex I wouldn't bother with her though.

MrsArthurShappey · 23/06/2017 13:32

Anisha has been giving Rex pretty mixed signals all along tbh.

JessieMcJessie · 23/06/2017 14:52

Yes Anisha was a total bore about the kiss, it sounded perfectly civilised and I'd have expected two youngish free and single red blooded types who have been building up to this for a while to have at the very least gone back in for a decent snog after the first lip lock. I couldn't work out if we were meant to think he had somehow stuck his hand up her top to prompt her to put the brakes on.

RubyRoseRing · 23/06/2017 15:20

I dunno, Moomin, l'm just relieved we didn't hear Freddie losing his virginity. I think we all got away with it with 'just kissing'. Smile

ppeatfruit · 23/06/2017 16:31

True Jessie I think that he'd ve got a bit further if it'd been Pip (she ain't a professional virgin). Grin
