My childhood too something, but Walter annoyed me because I always thought he needed to 'clear his throat' like Louis Armstrong. As i grew up I appreciated him more (and Louis A. ) I liked Tom Forest too and the silent 'Pru'.!!

I started listening properly in about 1981. It was often on in the background when I was growing up so I had a vague idea of what it was all about. I'm not so sure I'd have got hooked if I'd started listening recently. The Brian/Siobhan storyline would have done it but not many of the others. Nigel and Shula and then Nigel and Elizabeth in the 80s/early 90s - lots of fun with the occasional more serious bit. I loved all of that. Nelson Gabriel was the best TA character ever, with the possible exception of Brian.

Watching Wimbledon now reminds me of Nelson. Elizabeth went into the wine bar and asked for "something dry and German" and Nelson suggested "Boris Becker?"

Inteeesting about past romances. Where are all the love affairs these days? Aren't we about due one? The most recent passion I can remember was Jolene and Kenton, post-Sid.

Don't remember the tent but Nigel was once staying over at Brookfield and crept into what he thought was Shula's bed only to find himself snuggling up to Phil. Wonderful moment.

Of course, once Nigel and Elizabeth were an item, there was the time when they both had ice cream vans - Mr Snowy and Mrs Snowy, as I recall. Happy days.
