Why doesn't Lillian just split from Matt?

If she loves being with the terminally dull Paul so much, why doesn't she just tell Matt it's all over, ask him to leave and install Paul in Ambridge? It's her house, isn't it?

She's not tied to Matt through kids or financial necessity, and she doesn't seem to like him very much even when he's trying to be nice to her.

Is it just the thought of Peggy's cat's bum face that's stopping her?

What a great thread! Yes, Lillian is the director and ?majority shareholder in Amside. Matt is banned from being a director so would be up the creek if Lillian left him. I'm another one who can't understand why Paul and Lillian haven't talked about what they're going to do longer term. They never seem to look further ahead than the next dirty weekend.

Surely she needs his business experience though, and his dodgy contacts. I can't see her wanting to run amside on her own, wouldn't have much time for spa days. so in that respect she needs matt as much as he needs her I think.

I love Lillian AND Matt. Together. In spite of Matt being a complete arsehole.

They are sexeh and my favourite characters by far

Lillian is also incredibly loyal, even to people who don't deserve it. I can't see her leaving Matt, though I think her stomach was turned by the Arthur and Joyce debacle: she doesn't mind him being mean to people his own weight but when he picks on weaker people, that's different.

Yes Abrald But IMO she must either love him or be a bit thick to stick by him after goal when it was pretty obvious that the 'tiger' wasn't going to change his stripes.

I would like to agree with you but ...
-the current episode (hospital re James' broken leg) of the Lillian & Paul saga started at the back-end of October. They have had more than their allocated time (in fact, it slots nicely into a double allocation of the standard six weeks).
-we have a new character in the ECMCM and need to do somthing with him and his suspiciously missing DW
-the Bridge Farm crew have suddenly re-appeared after months of silence. It must be Their Turn.

Paul may be back at some stage, but not now.

Well that scene showed Lil to be quite weak which isn't like her! But she obviously feels she has too much to loose if she chucked out Alpha Matt?!

I think that Lillian is going to arrange for Paul to project manage the renovation of the Victorian whatsit project that Matt's interested in (what with Paul being an expert on that sort of thing).

They'll be getting hot and heavy on the reclaimed tiles and Matt will catch them.

I feel sorry for Matt. I didn't think Lillian had it in her to be so deceitful.

Aah pip Clever bit of forecasting you could well be right but before being too sympathetic to Matt have you forgotten that Matt would've been up Annabel if they hadn't been walked in on by Lil. in her house!!! I bet she hasn't forgotten it!!
