What do you suggest for taking on hols in plane hold for less than £75

I have a bee plus but don't fancy taking it on holiday as I dont want it to get trashed in the plane hold. I may buy the travel bag, but at £90 it isnt a cheap... Wondered what pushchair might be a good option to get (happy for used) that's less than £75 either new or sh. Only must have is reclining seat. I know there are some buggy experts on here so looking forward to your suggestions!

buy my quest! £80 del but it is lovely has orig box and bnip r/c in apples fabric.

Should also say needs to be light and look good i think I'd rather a good second hand pram than a cheap new one :D

Oh it does look lovely, but it seems a shame to get it trashed by the baggage handlers...

macs are pretty indestructible tbh i also have a volo that i just literally travelled with to greece last week came back perfectly. I also took my nipper but i had that in travel bag.

What is it like to push? The Bee is very maneuverable and I'm worried that I'm going to be v disappointed with anything else... Does that mean I should look for swivel front wheels?

Also, do you know whether, if you have a travel bag, you're allowed to take it to the gate with you? The Bee bag is quite big, but we need to take the pram to the gate as we have a 3 hr stop over en route and I would only consider putting it in the hold if it was protected.

Also, anyone have any opinions on the following which I've just found by googling. Been a while since I researched prams etc and don't know where to start for reliable info!

I had a pop and it wasn't a patch on the maclaren. Macs do push lovely for a stroller just a very nice feel to them.

Superlite i was very tempted with as well. Are you meaning you want to take the plane on board with you?

Originally I was thinking about the pram in the hold, but I've just this second read about the Quicksmart which can be actually taken on board as handluggage so that's got me thinking it might be an option.

Have you tried out a Superlite? I can't decide if I like the looks or not!

quicksmart get awful reviews. where are you going and how long for?

zapps are fab for travel for taking on hold i'd sooner have one over a quicksmart but no good for daily use on hols as no recline for little man.

i bought a cheap fastfold and really really liked it as a trier before buying a superlite but since then decided against. Not sure i like shape of seat at top. My youngest is nearly 3yr tho so different considerations.

i bought two pops as couldn't believe sx could make such a crap stroller but it was horrible to push v.heavy, hard work. you certainly wouldn't like it after bee.

I'd definitely say Mac Quest. Maclarens probably the best pushchair you can get for what you want. I have the same one as Nicola and it is great to puch, very light and manouverable.

Micralites are greaat prams, but they are more bulky and I'd worry about air tyres popping with the pressure in plane.

I have a jane sonic and it's fab. I took it on holiday and it did not get damaged in any way.
It's very lightweight and compact and it reclines.

Oh and I bought it new from an ebay shop for £70.

We're going to visit family in France. When we're there we mainly stay in the house or very short trips out (< 3hrs or so). We do have large gardens there so the most use will probably for walking down to the pond or to see the animals etc... So it will be over grass and lots and lots of shingle We also have a 3hr layover in Paris on the return and ideally would like the DS to have a kip in this time (hence the original desire for recline) but thinking about it, it is very unlikely that he'll need to kip while we're out and about on holiday.

I do like the idea of the quest but DH doesn't understand why I want to buy a new pram for the holiday so money is going to be tighter than I thought

I'm just v worried about taking my pride and joy in the hold

I'd personally get a micralite, I have had three and have loved them. DH has promised I can get a superlite fo winter, can't wait! The air tyres are good for rough terrain whn you're out and about, but they do have a tendancy to tip if you put anything on the handles and nothing in the basket.

Thanks guys - I'm erring towards the superlite at the mo - I'm hoping the bigger wheels will deal with the gravel better (having just spent the day getting stuck in gravel whilst out it's top of my list - lol!)

5inthe - how good was your micralite over shingle? I've just discussed with DH and he's agreed we can get a new buggy (vs travel bag) as long as its easier to push on shingle than the bee (which basically you have to drag)... ta!

I read this review of holiday buggies, and we decided to go for the Chico Xplorer

It was pretty good, but they do seem to get a lot of wear and tear when on holiday, so i'd definately go for something cheap that you don't mind getting a bit battered!
