Double pram/buggy for Twins - rearfacing

Ok I am going mad!!! We are expecting twins in November and I am trying to get my head round the minefield that is buggies.

I am desperate for a rear facing/forward facing side by side one that can have carrycots or be a pramette (prefer the idea of carrycots) however I just can't find anything I like within a reasonable price Sad

I have posted already about the OBaby Zezu Twin but have been informed that it's not that great Sad

I'm not a fan of the Bugaboo but am now feeling the Donkey is the only one that meets my requirements but it costs the earth.

Feeling very annoyed and that parents of multiplies are having to pay a fortune for a decent pram! Angry

Please can someone answer my prayers and send me in the right direction for one I will love.

How can looking for buggies get you down!

Have I found one?

Mikado Duet but without the car seats (they only go up to 11kg) so would by separate car seats as I'm not planning on using them on the pram.

I do agree its a gap in the market.

On the flip side, when my two were tiddlers they fell asleep all the time in the buggy so parent facing would've been a bit pointless! And now they just want to look out and fight, so actually a twin buggy with a dividing barrier would be more useful

I really am going mad!

The parent facing bit is for me really, first time panicy mum lol. But it is one of the most important features to me. I know I'm probably being too picky but the fact I knew what I wanted before we found out it was twins and now I can't find something I like for the two of them is upsetting me (silly I know)

We had to abandon any hope of rear facing when our twins were born, purely due to cost. We ultimately made a mistake and bought the Nipper 360 double, but only in that they have outgrown it by 21 months when we thought it could be used until they were 4. In terms of it being forward facing, we haven't ever found that to be a problem, even when they were premie newborns. The only downside is people in the street crowding around the front to peer in at them (bizarre twin phenomenon!) which makes it take a bit longer to get where you are going.

We have just replaced with the Baby Jogger City Mini. There are some good deals around. And I have just seen that they do come with a carry cot which is rear facing, but costs extra.

I think that's one of the issues I have, people sticking their faces in going oooooooooooo twins. Yes they are and yes I am blessed, but noses out please.

Thank you for the link, and I had looked at this but again was put off by it not being rear facing Sad Am I just being far too picky?

I need to find a massive shop with lots of choice to try but don't know where any are.

We have the nipper 360 double and love it! I agree, from nb I would have loved them parent facing but I used a single pram with carry cot and put them both in the same carry cot until they were too big to squish in. By that time I didnt mind them facing out.

The nipper is fantastic to push and i have 2 yr old heavy boys who add a considerable chunk of weight! :D

^ I hear of that done with triplets, double mountain buggy carrycots. Don't see why you shouldn't do it with twins. If you got something preloved that had a big carrycot and used that until they became too big then you might have more choice, I'm guessing that would get you to this time next year, by which time there could well be more options plus you will know your lifestyle with babies better iyswim.

Thank you ClairesTravellingCircus I'd seen that but couldn't find where to buy in the UK.

I'll have to ask DP as I would want the bassinets too so makes it rather pricy (not as much as the Donkey though) It's almost twice as much as the OBaby Zezu twin but looks nicer and more stable. I'm just sooooooooo picky.

The nipper 360 double does look practical GoofyIsACow i'm just not sure.

Please someone slap me!

I know it's expensive but the Donkey really is great - lightweight, comfy, a good size bassinette and has all the options you are looking for (forward, rear etc). If you can afford it, then I would say go for it.

Seriously though, you have a lot more options as far as prams go once they can hold their own heads up, which is why i didnt buy one at first. The single pram lasted us until perhaps 5/6 mths

My first DS was parent facing for over a year, the twins are DS2 and 3 i think that makes a difference, or it did to me anywaythe icandy ones can be parent facing i think, but are tandem as opposed to side by side, but tbh the price is similar to a dinkey i think. A twin mum friend of mine has the donkey and it is really good, she is definitely getting her moneys worth

I'm probably over thinking it all as I've been waiting to be a mummy for 10 years and now want everything to be 'perfect' if that makes sense (I'm not saying that everyone doesn't feel that way Blush) Feeling very blessed to be having twins Grin

I kind of want to give you a wide double to take everywhere with you for a week or so.. I would defo want them to face me too. I wouldn't be able to accomodate the extra width for it though. I would rather have lie flat seats instead of carrycots in order to be able to get in places etc. But everyone's priorities are different Smile?

brevi ovo twin? Not that it's exactly cheaper..

Hmmm now there's something to think about. I dont' normally like the tandems but that's one looks quite nice, and I like the fact they can face each other as well (still want the carry cots though - when will I learn!)

I'm defo realising that for what I want we need to spend more than I was hoping too. I'm sure DP will put his foot down though and make me see sense Hmm

Another vote for the nipper, we used it from birth - 4yrs, my boys were lazy walkers and loved that pushchair! They were fine forward facing and when tiny were always asleep in it. When they got older they loved looking forwards and we were still able to chat away happily.

We went to kiddicare in Peterborough, think there are a few stores around the country now. They let you have a play with the pushchairs. I remember trying the nipper with ds1 who was then 3 just to make sure or would fit an older child. Think we bought it from their website in the end as it was cheaper.

Thank you I just googled and they have some near us (well about 1-2 hrs away) My sis also mentioned the Mothercare on the Purley Way saying they had a lot of buggies. Guess its time to hit the shops!

We had a nipper with 2 Phil and Teds cocoons strappwd in when they were tiny, fab for carrying them in and out if places (docs appts, baby groups etc)
