New Mutsy 4rider, telescopic handle keeps slipping?!

Is this a common fault?

I took it on the school run for the second time this morning and the handle clicked right down three times on the way, each time was when i bumped down or up a kerb so could be quite dangerous!

I've never had a telescopic handle do don't know if this is normal.

No, a telescopic handle defo shouldn't move out of position in use, that's a fault Sad

Oh Peanut is this the one you ordered the other day when the babystyle went bang?

Sorry to hear that. I've not tried mine yet (was waiting for different wheels) so will go and have a play with it now and see if it does the same...be back in a bit x

Right, well so far it hasn't done anything odd - I've put it up in the living room and messed about with it (boy is that seat adjustment thing complicated!)

But I haven't used it with a child or outside yet.
I think this sounds like a fault, as Parties says. Where did you get it from? Can you return it?

Hey just saw your replies (yeay DD slept from 8.30pm until about 10 minutes ago!!) and reported it to Mutsy who say yes its definitely a fault and told me to approach retailer for a replacement.

I bought from Boots.com so its being returned to store on Thursday and they will dispatch a new one the sane day so will probably receive on Monday, bit gutted really as i do like it but seems quite a heavy push at times for an air Tyre Confused

I will be getting again though as it does feel solid otherwise, can you interchange these and the light wheels for future reference?

i thought it seemed really easy Confused, push button in and pull seat back or push seat up, do you mean the depth etc as i didn't dare touch that lol

If the new one has a fault i will be getting a refund but god knows what I'll end up with, the Elea/Mura/Ip-Op/Muum/Trider/Cross/BSmart are all in budget at PLO and at a serious stretch the Versa.

Anyone know how the Elea pushes? It looks weird and can't tell if wheels are air or not

ok. Yes the mutsy is VERY heavy and also very wide...I'm surprised at how huge it is tbh. I used to have the urban ride (four big wheels) and it's not much different to that.

I can't help with the Elea, sorry, but I've got an ip op (PLO!) and it's much lighter and much easier in shops than the mutsy will be (from experience with the width of the Urban rider) however it is not as solid.
The fabrics are lovely and water just forms droplets on it - really nice quality - but the frame is a little bit less solid than one might expect. I mean it is very good still but I'd not pay more than I did iyswim.

I also have the versa, which is the one I'd go for if I were you. It's BEAUTIFUL to push, it folds with one hand, (though is heavy - I have the GT wheels which add another pound or so - you can't interchange)

I got it from Lesters and it was 369.(normal wheels 329)
I had to send it back cos of the handlebar dropping, ironically, but they replaced this part and it is now fine (known issue in some batches)

You can change the mutsy wheels, yes - I hated the light wheels mine came with so bought some of the single spoke air wheels and much prefer those.
The complicated bit is the depth adjustment thing, yes - wow, it's crazy and pointless Grin

If I could only have one pushchair out of those I would definitely go for the Versa. Seriously - it knocks the socks off the others, I think you've had a lucky escape in fact, as a mutsy and nothing else would restrict where you could go with it big time.

What I mean is - in a nutshell (ha, like I can do that!) is that pushing the mutsy is hard work cos it's so wide and chunky. Pushing the ip op is hard-ish work as it is a little bit squiffy in the frame - there is a little bit of movement which takes away from the energy you put into it, and makes it heavier even though it weighs very little to lift. It also does not fold small, not with the seat on anyway...though apparently it does with just the chassis. So if you're happy to separate before folding then that'd be ok.

The versa is easy peasy and very smooth to push, despite being heavy. It's a good ride. I love taking it out, I really do. And it's not hard to fit in a car, or through narrow bits of shops. And the fold can be done with a baby under one arm. It is on the whole very intuitice - the hood isn't as solid as the ip op, that's the only issue I have with it. But otherwise - brilliant.

i actually hate the 4 rider :(.

Been out 3 times and i hate:
lack of suspension
heavy to push and tip (with a 10lber in)
tiny basket
paper thin raincover that fits awful
veers to one side
need to keep pulling at the hood as it doesn't fit around the back if seat when laying flat

and that's giving then the benefit of the doubt that the handle normally works!

Yes...I know what you mean on all of those counts, the basket came straight off mine, you can buy a massive basket that actually functions (if you were going to keep it!) but that is another 30 quid.

The hood drives me insane and I've not even used it properly yet.

The only reason I'm keeping mine is that it was massively discounted (overstock seller) so v cheap, and I wanted the fun seat Smile

I am going to put the seat unit and so on on ebay.

i don't drive so walk 99% of the time, atleast 3 miles a day so need something study and smooth that will handle any weather!

i have a bjcm for when we need something small so that's not really an issue.

Think my best bet might be to have a look at a new Babystyle chassis, although i do love the Versa but I've heard its quite hard suspension which obviously isn't great for a lot of walking.

I think the suspension is fine tbh - I've had about 70 pushchairs and some have been appalling but actually it is fine.

Babystyle do the Oyster which my pram shop tells me is similar to the versa - but I've heard reports from various people that it's not much cop!

Try looking on bestbuggy.co.uk - they compare a lot of the popular brands.

Also for a good bouncy walking pushchair, check out Quinny (freestyle sort of thing if you don't mind second hand) and Mountain buggy, also best bought second hand as the new quality has gone downhill.

Ooh no not the oyster!

My friend has that one and the wheel came clean off (it was 8 weeks old) which in turn flipped it and her DS fell out of the carrycot in the middle if Asda!

I'm not entirely thrill at the thought if buying second hand as that's what i did with the Lux, it looked fine and now its trashed :(

Versa or Mutsy suspension? i can't try out before i buy which is a bugger and I'd need a carrycot which would bump costs up.

How old is little one? I used the Versa from about 6 weeks with ds3. You can put a soft cushion in to level it up, or else just put the baby in so that its feet are in the seat part, and its back is straight - not slumped, iyswim, actually ds's bottom went happily in the seat part as he liked his legs to be curled up anyway.
But I didn't use it every day. And it's not recommended, I'm sure!

The versa with ordinary wheels has slightly better suspension, apparently...if that might suit you.

Where are you? You could borrow something of mine for the first few months if you like, so you don't have to make a decision quickly.

Also suspension wise, Versa trumps Mutsy every time.

Would some sort of cocoon work, she's 11 weeks?

Tempted to go for it as i do love my bjcm except the forward facing so technically the Versa is what i want. See that's the issue i've heard normal wheels have decent suspension but GT wheels are better fir walking, so confusing!

Would you recommend one over the other for a lot of walking?

I'm up in the Highlands where the MNers don't roam, unfortunately but thank you for the offer :o

I have a silver cross surf nest to flatten the seat if you need, it's in my never get round to ebaying pile.

how much and what colour?

Is the Versa definately a good one for 2 years of daily walking in all weathers? I'm buying blind again.

the versa is relatively new so untested but so far so good - it seems very strong. I'd go with GT wheels on your terrain, they will last a lot longer imo.

Yusssss, the reason I didn't get another is the good wheels or suspension choice and it's too big for my liking etc. I just have too much stuff Smile. The actual surf wedge bit is cream fleece, the coloured bit is the footmuff. I also have a unused carseat wedge that would probably work better for an older baby, free to a good home.

Even though I don't have one I do think the versa is the best thing available, the best all rounder. I don't honestly know how you'd choose which version to get either tbh, you kinda need a hybrid one too. I'm surprised that the mutsy doesn't have good suspension. Also hacked off for you that you ended up with something else with an issue Sad
