Do you have a budget?

milk · 19/07/2012 15:06

Also, is this for city use or all-terrain?

Andyd84 · 19/07/2012 18:55

It's for everyday use and no I don't have a budget

The Baby Jogger range looks good :)

Tiggywunkle · 19/07/2012 21:33

A Baby Jogger City Mini or GT or Elite or a TFK Joggster Twist or an Easywalker Qtro or Sky or a Quinny Yezz or a Britax B-Agile or a Bugaboo Bee Plus.....

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 19/07/2012 21:39

Can I ask if he has any additional needs or will you be be pushing it for unusually long distances?

Everyday use of a pushchair for a large 3 year old seems a bit unusual and might be why you're struggling to find a suitable one, but if there's any extra details that might help to find something to fit the bill.

Tiggywunkle · 19/07/2012 23:12

TBH it's not that unusual for a 3 year old to still be in a pushchair for many many reasons which I have no desire to debate all over again, but most of my MN friends and quite a number of my daughters nursery friends still push their 3/4/5 year old for all different reasons including safety, sanity, long walks, afternoon naps or medical issues. My own rising 4 year old has been in a pushchair this week and I refuse at present to take both children out unless it's in a double.

I have several areas of interest with pushchairs, one of which is doubles, another is small folding pushchairs and the third is pushchairs suitable for older, bigger heavier children. The biggest issue is that pushchairs in the UK only need to be tested to 15kgs to go on sale. This does not always reflect the maximum weight capacity.

Andyd84 · 20/07/2012 08:28

It's not for long trips it's just short ones to the shop and back

OP posts:
milk · 20/07/2012 08:35

In which case, I'd either go with the Quinny Yezz (selling on kiddicare for £155) or get a second hand Quinny Zapp (on ebay they seem to sell for £40-60)

BedHog · 20/07/2012 08:42

I'm not sure about the wheels/feet problem, but the Jane Slalom Pro has a large seat section. I can fit in it myself!

Sossiges · 20/07/2012 08:44

I have a Nipper 360 and I love it. Lots of room for large toddlers/small children. Maybe worth a look.

tabbycat7 · 20/07/2012 09:12

I have a quinny yezz for my 2 year old which my lazy 4 1/2 yo rides about in sometimes. The seat's huge and it's possible to steer one handed even with a chunky boy in it: )

mamadiva · 20/07/2012 10:07

Out n about nipper is really lightweight to push with heavy children, although I have only used the double with twin 3.5 year olds Wink

I had the original city mini with my ds who sounds similar to yours size wise and loved it as the seat was huge.

mamadiva · 20/07/2012 10:09

:o Bedhog I now have images if a parent sitting in the slalom being pushed by the child along high street lol

Tiggywunkle · 20/07/2012 11:24

LOL at Bedhog.
I love the Yezz too, but there isn't much room for shopping lololol
The B-Agile has a huge seat for a toddler - the handle is on the short side though but older toddlers look uber comfy. If it helps, go and have a wander around Best Buggy at some of these. There are photos of a large 3 year old in most of these pushchair suggestions on there and TBH they are quite interesting to look at side by side on screen.

Andyd84 · 20/07/2012 15:55

I hate 3 wheel ones as he try's to get out and they tip over also needs to take his weight as he is over 3 years old he is quite heavy and very tall for his age

OP posts:
mamadiva · 20/07/2012 16:51

City mini 4 wheel.

baby joggers have the highest weight capacity iirc

Andyd84 · 21/07/2012 18:43

All these pushchairs only go upto 15-20 kg which he is heavier than that

OP posts:
cece · 21/07/2012 18:55

I recently managed to buy some sort of older model Quinny, not sure which type, at the car boot. Was having trouble with my three year old touching floor/wheels and not looking comfy. It is really roomy and his feet rest nicely on the foot rest. He can also sleep comfortably in it.

I can look it up if you like.

mamadiva · 21/07/2012 21:25

I'm not sure there is anything that will take higher andyd unless you look at SN pushchairs.

Check out the American weight limits for these pushchairs as UK only tests up to 15kg usually but they may take more iyswim.

TruthSweet · 21/07/2012 21:55

EasyLife Sports will take up to 45kg so that's worth a look at. There's one on Ebay at the moment here.

artandcraftmum · 21/07/2013 17:14

hi there i have a quiiny zapp for my 22 month old they tip with shopping tip when they stretch leggs out and touch a wall etc . My soms fit nearly touch the floor on the zap. Ive your son is average height he will be too big for it . i had to remove the roof as he wouldnt fit in pushchair when it was closed .However ive investigated to death the alternatives and thi is still the best choice. Get one off ebay.
