"My name is MotherGeek & I'm a pram-o-holic".
My 9 month old son has had 4 already, and I am now shopping for a double!!

I know everyone's needs are different, but I was just wondering if you had to recommend one pushchair you've used above all others, which would it be & why?

And which did you hate the most & why?
(It doesn't matter if it's a single, double, pram, stroller, etc).

I'll start:
I LOVE: The Graco Symbio B because it meets all needs from newborn to toddler & is super easy to steer.
I HATE: The Chicco CT06 - bought it for holiday & it broke after 2 days' use. It's so true - you get what you pay for!!

I have a BJCM 4 wheel which I love. So easy to push.

I bought a Babyway Altai on a whim as it was £17 in the sale and there seemed to be a rush towards it so I grabbed it and bought it! It has been languishing in Grandma's garage since then...utter waste of money! (To be fair it might be ok I just should have shown more restraint!)

Ihateparties · 19/03/2012 18:54

I hate my Hauck Duett because it's fine on the flat but SOOOO hard to steer on rougher cambered pavements, cobbles and curbs etc... which entirely surround my house Blush Ooops.
I (nearly, as long as I never had to fold it) loved my Gecko, so easy to push and you could essentially ram it into a curb and it would climb... not that I'm obsessed with curbs or anything!

Planning to LOVE the Oyster Max tandem SO come on Babystyle.. please, please please please make it as good as it looks like it might be!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/03/2012 18:55

Love my Bee. Detest the SC Pop

5inthebed · 19/03/2012 19:13

Loved my BJCM and Micralite Supalite.
Loathed the Streety. If ever there was a pram 101 room, this pram should be sent there.

MotherGeek · 21/03/2012 11:34

Oooh, there have been so many mentioned that I've never even heard of lol.
Clearly I'm not as well educated on pushchairs as I thought I was hahaha!!
I am now shopping for a double, as baby 2 is due in June & baby 1 will only just be 12m then. Any thoughts on doubles?
It will be with a heavy heart I park up my Symbio B for the double, though lol. xx

Yes, start looking round here to start you off on doubles! There is no perfect double - there will be compromises. So work out what is most important to you. If you can't afford an expensive double then DO consider second hand. Generally speaking the more expensive doubles are easier to push and will keep their value for resale later. Be prepared to maybe swap double at some point, especially with two so young / similar in age. Think about the carrycot / car seat / newborn stage and worry about the toddler stage later. Treat a double as a rental :)

FoofFighter · 21/03/2012 20:18

Loved BJCM, Bugaboo Cam, P&T E3

Hate Maclarens and other umbrella folders in general, stupid little wheels and rickety, not for me.

Lifesagame · 21/03/2012 22:15

BJCM - as near to perfection as it gets.

Maclaren Quest - absolute rubbish. I like my pushchairs to push in a straight line and this was hopeless!!!

Honeydragon · 21/03/2012 22:22

Hated the Bastard Streety

Loved My Vigour especially for pushing through over a foot of snow

Liked BJCM bit tippy though

Disfunctional relationship Bee+ (I love it more than it loves me)

About to embark new affair with Bugaboo Cam

One I let get away Bugaboo Frog.

Just for kicks Aprica Cruiser, although he's off to ebay soon.

AsCorruptAsWhisky · 21/03/2012 22:30

I love Maclarens! I have a Maclaren MX3, a Techno and a Techno Twin. They are all wonderful. I do have a fondness for umbrella buggies, though.

My favourite would have to be the Petite Zia Extreme Charisma. Stupid name, but lovely double. I couldn't find it second hand so I had to buy it full price but I think it was worth it. It was such a joy to push.

I hated all the Bugaboos that I tried. I also didn't really like the BJCM - everybody else seems to, though, so perhaps I have odd pushchair tastes.

Missielovelie · 21/03/2012 22:54

I love the pushchair i have got now, its the mothercare curv. I think it looks good as its all in black, and i seem to be the only mum on the school run to have one which i think is a good thing. Theres nothing worse than having a pushchair that everyone else has got!
The pushchairs i hate are the maclarens they are so old fashioned looking, they have barely changed since they first came out, and they are so expensive for something that looks so outdated!

lucamom · 21/03/2012 23:18

Nipper 360 was a fantastic double for my newborn & 18 mth old sons, really easy to steer and although side to side it wasn't particularly wide.

Now have a Silvercross Surf for my third child - absolutely love it, my favourite of all my pushchairs (in the past have had the Loola-great, M&P pliko pramette-rubbish, M/Care Trenton deluxe-great but too heavy). Can't recommend the Surf enough, only drawback is the shopping basket size.

Tiggywunkle · 22/03/2012 00:37

The Surf is great but it could be much better with a better harness (non cloth with no silly sliding off pieces), bigger baskets, more definite one handed seat release, more definite fold (I feel like I am rowing a boat each time wondering if something will click in), and more squashy seat to store. Above all, I dispute the claims that Silver Cross make that Surf is, as I was told only last week, an "all terrain" pushchair and as the catalogue says is suitable for the beach and woods - with such small front wheels?! I do think the Surf could be seriously great if it had a bit more thought and an over haul. The seat unit is very large and the chassis has the cutest fold size ever!! But its not practical!

MotherGeek · 22/03/2012 16:04

I just LOL'd at your post HoneyDragon!!
I am feeling pretty uneducated now - I haven't heard of quite a few of the ones you's have mentioned.
Me & my Symbio B are gonna go & sit in the corner & do some googling to get up to speed hehe!! xx

Absolutely detested the loola, heavy and awkward. Really hard to get up kerbs, my back really hurt with it. Quinny buzz was just awful too and the M&P pliko pramette and don't get me started on the quinny zapp!!

Adore my maclaren techno xt. Very boring looks wise but otherwise totally brilliant. It is the only pram that stayed faithful to for my 2 dd's. Everything else got sold on after a while.

suzie38 · 24/03/2012 10:45

I loved my Donkey but sold it due to buying a tiny car...Most waste of space one was the Britax B Smart 4 as DD refused to sit in the seat plus the hood was HUGE!!! Most useless one to push was the Silver Cross Pop which i'd got in a swap...I came off worse!!!

suzie38 · 24/03/2012 10:45

Currently loving my I'coo Vario.

Tiggywunkle · 24/03/2012 10:49

I didn't really answer the question.
Hmm....hated the Joovy Ergo, First Wheels City Twin, Jane Powertwin, Mountain Buggy Duet and the Senzz.

I love the iCandy Peach and Peach Blossom 2, the Baby Jogger City Select (until it became too heavy to push), the Mountain Buggy +One, the BJCM4, the Maxi Cosi Noa, the TwinGo, the Bugaboo Cameleon and Donkey. I also loved the Maxi Cosi Mura seat but the fold was too large for our car / house. But heavenly for chid comfort. There's probably loads more that I enjoyed too to be fair....some were really good fun.

Honeydragon · 24/03/2012 10:53

The People who like the Quinny Buzz are people who do not like push chairs or themselves FACT

Tiggywunkle · 24/03/2012 11:03

Hmm....it's not that bad Honey.....there's much must worse out there. At least the Buzz seat s big, it's got some storage space, folds with the seat on and you can push it!!! My list above are those that were uncomfortable, unpushable, had no steering or left me in pain...

...whispers....and I do still have a Buzz in the house.....and i have used more than twice....

Tiggywunkle · 24/03/2012 11:03

Much much!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 24/03/2012 11:12

Quinny Buzz = unwieldy piece if shite. I've had side-by-side doubles that were narrower.

PuffPants · 24/03/2012 11:16

I can't believe so many of you have had so many pushchairs!!! What are you doing with them???

I have a Bee. I love it Smile

easterbunnywantssomeicandy · 24/03/2012 11:18

hated, the p&t vibe, p&t verve both had major issues, the bee the back wheel fell apart after a couple of weeks, the streety, all buggys [apart from the noa]
loved the mima xari, uppababy vista, noa, brio go, orbit baby, bugaboo cam with younger child only though, joolz day, mb urban, stokke xplory thinks thats it, all the others i have just 'liked' and to list them i would be here a very long time Blush
i now need would like an icandy peach Grin

Tiggywunkle · 24/03/2012 11:26

I forgot about the Verve being irreparable...

Believe me the Buzz may be wide and not the best, but there really honestly is far worse out there! I wouldn't recommend the Buzz either though!!! It's long, wide, unfolds itself when you don't want, the basket drags on the floor but it's not on EBay yet which I think the others all were within hours of buying!
