Babystyle Oyster Max Tandem

Tiggywunkle · 03/02/2012 13:32

I have just spotted information for the new Babystyle Oyster Max tandem and I am sooooooooooooooooo excited that I had to come and share!

Its got a small wheelbase so will be great on public transport - no more gondola's!

It comes with two car seats, and can take two carrycots and two car seats. So will be suitable for twins. It is bought as a 2 seat pushchair, but my assumption is that given there are car seat and carrycot options that it could also be used as a single pushchair.

I am jumping up and down and squeeeing at this pushchair because it seems like the dream! I can't wait to see more about the combinations and how it all works.

I was told the Oyster Max is due out this summer.

Can you tell I love it???!!

I HAVE TO HAVE ONE!!!!

I'm working on DP in order to make use of the second seat, and also have a proper reason to buy it other than just liking it! Wink

You do know the second seat is the same as the normal Oyster seat? So you just use normal Oyster hoods. I bet there will suddenly be loads of standard Oyster chassis on ebay if you don't have to buy the Oyster Max with both seats! I wonder if there will be different colour options for the main seat hood. I like the shape of the hood, it's pretty!

They need to give us more information now!

I think Babystyle should consider me as a tester for this. I love the Oyster and will be needing a double come October. Are you listening Babystyle? You wouldn't even need to post it - I'm only half an hour drive away so could collect!

mrsmandm · 21/02/2012 20:05

I had the single for my last baby and loved it - hoping I'll be able to get this and not a P&Ts, and keeping fingets crossed that it's narrow. Due in June so get cracking Babystyle!

Babystyle · 22/02/2012 13:05

Hi we are so happy at Babystyle that you love the new Oyster Max. Looking at your various comments, we can confirm it will have a shopping basket, and the concept is that the unit nearest to you will face away, but the front unit can be adjusted to face either way. The back seat unit will hopefully have a hood as it is under development at the moment.

Unfortunately we do not have a launch date as yet but we are aiming for the second half of the year.

ItsMyLastOne · 22/02/2012 13:23

Babystyle The second seat needs a hood, there really shouldn't be any "hopefully" about it. I assume some of you at Babystyle are parents and therefore should know a hood is a necessity to protect your child from the elements and to help when the child needs to go to sleep. I absolutely expect to be buying an Oyster Max, but that would be a deal breaker for me.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 22/02/2012 13:23

Hi BabyStyle! :o

I'm really looking forward to it. I was discussing with my sister this morning how we can sell our double and her Oyster and just have this. I'm sure we'll have a few others though. Wink I just hope we can afford it!

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 22/02/2012 13:24

Of course it'll have a hood!

5inthebed · 22/02/2012 13:30

Babystyle, will there be other colour options, or will the colour packs from the Oyster fit? Looks ideal for my sister (and me when I watch her DC)

ItsMyLastOne · 22/02/2012 13:55

I have more questions for you Babystyle Smile...

Will the Britax car seat still fit on the chassis? And if so, just on the top or top and bottom?

Will it be suitable for 2 carrycots? (Not that I'm having twins, I just think it needs to be asked) And will the carrycots be the same as the current ones or different? Would there be adapters to allow more room for the lower child when you use a carrycot on the top, similar to the B Dual's adapters which push the seat forward?

Will the width change from the current Oyster?

Will the Oyster ride-on board fit with the lower seat on?

Will you be able to fold with both seats on?

And how much will it be? Aprroximately if there's no RRP yet?

Is that enough of an interrogation for now?! Wink

Tiggywunkle · 22/02/2012 17:29

I know there will be a 2 carrycot option :)

StuckUpTheFezziwigTree · 25/02/2012 11:59

Oh yes. The Britax seat has to fit for me too. Then I don't have to buy another!

There are so many things that need changing on it but generally I like the look of it.

Niki87 · 07/05/2012 09:46

Hi there, there are a few questions I would like answering too. I like the look of this but I'm unsure on a few things
I am currently using the babystyle oyster with my 18 month old and have been since birth, therefore I have the oyster travel system; car seat carrycot stroller etc. I am due to have another in October and therefore this would seem ideal. However,
Could I use my existing oyster travel system, with the new oyster max chassis as this would save a lot of money instead of having to buy separate car seat, carrycot, stroller seat etc.
It would be much appeciated if someone could get back to me on this as I can't seem to find the answers anywhere.
Thank you :) x

www.bestbuggy.co.uk/category/single/babystyle-oyster-max/

"The Babystyle Oyster Max is a stylish and smart looking single pushchair with a hidden secret. The Babystyle Oyster Max converts very easily into a tandem for two children with the addition of a second seat kit.The Oyster Max can take a carrycot and a choice of car seats, and in tandem mode, it can take a 2 car seats, 2 carrycots, 2 seat units or any combination of these."

I could not find out if this is the existing carrycot, however if you contact Babystyle:

Email: [email protected]
Telephone: +44(0) 1509 816 444
Fax: +44(0) 1509 816 555

I'm sure someone will be able to answer your question :)

Tiggywunkle · 07/05/2012 09:58

I know you can use several car seats including the Oyster one, Maxi Cosi and Britax ones. However you may need different adaptors but we don't know yet. We were told that the standard Oyster carrycot would fit but since then I have read there will be a different carrycot. But with both, Babystyle seem to use fairly universal fittings so the adaptors and carrycot may well fit. The best way to find out would be to a) hope Babystyle read this and respond b) be proactive and go and ask them on their Facebook page and then report back :)

OP posts:
Ihateparties · 07/05/2012 23:36

I had thought it was a different carrycot for some reason (??) but it's definitely the same one that will fit on the oyster gem. Also it seemed that it was going to be sold as a single and second seat as an extra so you probably won't be able to get just the chassis. There still doesn't seem to be any very concrete info on when it is expected either

Not that I'm bitter or anything...

Bump! Now Tiggy tell us all about your new Oyster Max...

Tiggywunkle · 26/09/2012 15:56

LOL...what do you want to know? Its pretty, shiny, pushes great, has big seats....its like a Colour Pack Oyster but a bit bigger, shinier, and can easily carry two children :)

Chelvis · 27/09/2012 09:29

Looking at the facebook page, they are saying hopefully January for the Oyster Max tandem! I'm due in March so I could hold off shopping I suppose ... but I don't want to! And I don't like the sound of "hopefully" Confused

TribbleTuckandDismount · 27/09/2012 11:53

How's the fold?

Can you fit your kiddy winks in there? Can the toddler face outwards with newborn underneath? Is it easy to push, is cheaper than the PB2?

minipie · 27/09/2012 12:21

Argh January. too late for me, I'm due at the start of Dec.
