erm is it not just a normal MB double? What's different?

saoirse86 · 20/04/2011 19:38

It's so much narrower than normal, which will make it easier to get in and out of the door and stop frigg having to buy another 16 pushchairs and keep complaining to us about it! Grin

IngridBergman · 20/04/2011 19:41

Oh I see! Oh well in that case, it's wonderful Grin

Saoirse I'm still befuddled trying to work out the logistics of buying three P&Ts thanks to your other thread.

FriggFRIGG · 20/04/2011 19:42

this is a great review!

FriggFRIGG · 20/04/2011 19:46

its loads slimmer, and that means it will go though my teeny front door!
and that means i can stop buying tandems that my DD doesnt like,
or wider doubles that drive me up the wall...
because,of course if i go out in one, they both fall asleep just as i get home, and i have to wake them up to get them out of the buggy Angry

and that means i can stop banging on about buggys to DP and you guys! Grin

The Duet is awesome...its narrower than some tandems, and yet the seat sizes are exactly the same size as the Duo. I don't think you will regret selling everything for one. I think its as near a perfect pushchair from birth to 5 as you will be able to buy.

You should be able to preorder from most Mountain Buggy retailers such as Peppermint, Lullaboo Baby, It's my Baby, Winstantley's and Twins Store just off the top of my head. It retails at £580 but I am sure if you phone up and ask for a deal for a preorder you may well get one. The raincovers are extra so you may want to barter for one of those.

misdee · 22/04/2011 16:23

i have been waiting for that for months. i need one. as my stupid front door is stupidly narrow and cant get a standard double through it.

Guildfordnanny · 22/04/2011 17:06

Its due in the UK in June so MB say on their Facebook

FriggFRIGG · 22/04/2011 17:32

OP posts:
misdee · 22/04/2011 22:00

ah yes frig. try 67cm. i have given up with doubles for now except skate with jump seat,. and my old coach pram with toddler seat. am screwed if dd4 decides to nap though and i dont have a sling for baby steven

FriggFRIGG · 22/04/2011 22:16

jeeees,4 DC and NO double?! and 67cm!!! thats bloody mental Shock

i struggle with two....i have the p&t explorer, but they both cry in the bottom seat and it drives me mental,so i end up pushing a double with DS in a sling...or DD running wild ahead

i cannot wait for the MB,its tiny !! 63.5cm wide,with decent size seats! how just how ! i mean i know how,but really 63.5 !!

itsababy.co.uk emailed me to say it's due in the 1st week of june!!! [bugrin]

OP posts:
misdee · 22/04/2011 22:18

err 5 children. 4 dd's and one ds!

i need a decent hard working double for when i have the dogs with me as well (yes i am mad!), and as much as i love my skate + jump seat, and the old silvercross, they arent practical for muddy fields and rickety bridges etc.

FriggFRIGG · 22/04/2011 22:18

not that i think you are mental....i think its mental that you cope ,i would be mental....i mean,im in awe of.....uhh,i mean....oh i give up. Blush [bugrin]

OP posts:
misdee · 22/04/2011 22:38

dd4 wakes up with 'want breakfast, toast, cherrios and juice' 'in the living room mummy, with beebies;

FriggFRIGG · 22/04/2011 23:03

i think they might be the same kid Hmm ...

that is exactly what DD says, same menu,in the living room "not at table mummy, not at table..." even the same way of saying 'beebies'

i have been lingering on the pushchair sections once again as I am expecting number two and there will be a 20 month gap..

everyone seems to say this duet is the best... but I still am not sure a phil and teds tandem might be easier because narrow....

I have to get on the bus in london... and I have very weak arms..am worried in general about handling a double at all.

Please tell me why the duet is so much better than a tandem...and what about the weight?

mamaesi there are a few double phil and teds but this one is 12kg and 62cm wide.

The duet is 63.5cm wide, I can't find the weight but their duo is 11kg so probably similar.

That means it's only a tiny bit wider than a P&T double and weighs similar or less but means your LO's can sit side by side and neither has to spend their time looking at the underside of the other seat or people's legs.

I also can't find this out, but their others let you use a carrycot or car seat so still versatile for different ages and can be parent facing.

The only downside is that it's more expensive.

Guildfordnanny · 23/04/2011 11:03

Mamaesi, the Duet is just 1.5cms wider than the Phil and Teds Explorer (to take one at random) which is nothing when it easily fits through a standard door way, and yet yiu get two full sze side by side seats, both with carrycot and car seat options (great for twins) plus a large storage basket, and it pushes like a dream without children in. It's a bit heavier - I think approx 2 kg more but it's not the heaviest double around. I think for most people to have their children side by side at the same height but with tandem width is what will be the draw. Especially when you consider the Duet is narrower than the Baby Jogger City Select and the BJCS in every mode except carrycot is shorter than the Phil and Teds Dash, it makes the Duet a great option for bus rides.

mamaesi · 23/04/2011 11:31

wow. had no idea the phil and teds was that wide.

what is the appeal of the side by side? do kids really prefer that? my one year old is still parent facing and she hates not seeing me!

the weight still scares me, but it seems there is no way around it. i just love my bugaboo bee plus because of the light/small aspect. and my one year old is in 95% and a real chunky monkey...the thought of pushing her as she gets bigger along with another one is hurting my back/arms already...

oh well. i think you guys have almost sold me on the duet
