After an afternoon of very stressful phonecalls and negotiations, a row with a rather useless estate agents ( they forgot to turn up for the buyers final viewing) we have accepted an offer.

Less than we would have liked but not far off. It feels like we are back to ground zero as we are taking less out than we put in so have a year of hard saving ahead of us. But it feels good to be moving forward.

congrats. You were in a real catch 22 wern't you.

i bed its good to know you can move on with things

Lizzylou · 27/04/2009 18:12

Yay!
Really pleased for you TWAP, you can start making plans and moving forward. That house must have been like a millstone around your necks.
Fab news

SuperBunny · 27/04/2009 18:14

Hooray!

twinsetandpearls · 27/04/2009 18:16

yes we were custy, we spent the afternoon adding up columns of figures again and again to see what we needed from the house.

We have sold for 5% less than we bought ( n a boom) and 13% from the original asking price which psychologically does not feel great but in this market is not too bad.

It does mean we can move on and cut ties with the past.

Oh that's great. I've been following your story & am glad that you can finally draw a line under it. Hope the sale goes smoothly!

hippipotamiHasLost20Pounds · 27/04/2009 18:17

Brilliant

scampadoodle · 27/04/2009 18:17

You know, 5% less than the top of the market price isn't bad these days...

MintyyAeroEgg · 27/04/2009 18:18

Oh great news. At long last! Many congrats .

twinsetandpearls · 27/04/2009 18:18

It is a cash buyer and we know he has been looking at a house up the road which is on for a lot more and they wont drop so he is going nowhere. He also tried to chip us down even further and we held our ground ( or dp did!!) so I think it will go smoothly.

Excellent! Where is that Mumsnetter (can't remember her name now)who said I could say "I told you so" when your house actually sold?

She'd completely misunderstood me, but "I told you so" anyway.

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2009 18:20

I told you so - there are cash buyers out there.

TheFallenMadonna · 27/04/2009 18:22

I did hope this was your thread (no offence to other house sellers out there). What a relief!

Great news, twinset! Hope it goes smoothly for you. We're exchanging on the sale of our flat next week (touches wood furiously) so I know how it feels.

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 19:40

Congratulations!
We are on the market atm and it really is awful. Such a drag. Enjoy that box-packing.

TheOldestCat · 27/04/2009 19:50

Good luck, nickytwotimes.

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 19:51

Thanks Cat.
Crap time to sell, isn't it?

lalalonglegs · 27/04/2009 20:00

Yay!!! Did you know someone actually started a thread wanting to know if you had sold or not? We property bods have had little else to talk about the past couple of weeks - it won't even be a question of "hard saving" over the next year, it'll just be a question of not paying for the mortgage and upkeep of that place.

VinoEsmeralda · 27/04/2009 20:02

Was hoping it was you when I read the title, well done and hope there will be a quick exchange of contracts!

Glad you can concentrate on moving forward. Getting an offer accepted must be a huge weight of your shoulders too.
