On what side shall we put the toilet roll holder?

A trivial question I know, but would it be wrong to put the toilet roll holder on the right side of the loo (as you look at the loo)?

We've always had it to the left.

However, we don't have enough room to the left (we do have enough room for the holder, but not to slide the toilet roll on), but we do on the right.

Anyway, I think it isn't quite right, my husband thinks it is fine, I thought I would ask for some more thoughts!

I can't quite believe I am posting up about this, but I am interested what other people think.

Cheers

Old house it was on the left when seated, in this house it's on the right when seated. Our quibble is it's too far back to reach comfortably It will be resited, but whether left or right remains to be seen....!

Noooo, Flame, you misunderstood - it has to hang next to the wall because otherwise it's too awkward to get to. I think this may actually be more to do with how close the roll is to you when seated rather than the side it's on. I've realised our old house had it on the right with no such problem.

The side doesn't matter, but the roll MUST be placed on the holder with the loose end over the top and hanging down the front (as opposed to down the back). There is a reason, can't for the life of me remember it at the moment.....

Oooh yes, I agree. I turn it round at MIL's house because she puts it the wrong way round.
