Hello Mumsnetters,

What do think of this house please ? Thinking I might book a viewing.
I like that it already has planning permission approved for a nice extension.

Is anyone familiar with the area at all?

It seems to have been reduced too. Is the new price a reasonable for the area ?

Thank you for any insight 🙏

Is it your house?

Lovemybunnies · 18/02/2026 20:38

I really like it. You could easily extend and the garden is lovely. I don’t know the area though.

Is it your house?

That's exactly what I was thinking!😅

Buscobel · 18/02/2026 20:49

It looks as though it’s been staged for viewings. It also looks as though it’s been on the market for a while, bearing in mind the look of the grass. I bet it’s been reduced.

Parts of Bagshot are expensive and Surrey is pricey anyway, but the main roads are busy.

TeaNbIscuiTes · 18/02/2026 20:51

@Itsokaytomorrowisanewday and @canyon2000 no, it's not my house. I'm currently looking to move due to many reasons so i'm starting to looking around but is that what you would do? Book a viewing to your own property ?

OP posts:
rubyslippers · 18/02/2026 20:52

Honestly - it’s unremarkable
someone could move in and hang their clothes up and it would be fine
it’s very tidy but also empty so feels soulless
garden looks fab …
honestly it is a blank canvas but there’s no wow - if I was scrolling through right move I wouldn’t look at it twice

CloakedInGucci · 18/02/2026 20:56

I hate when estate agents stretch the pictures. You can always tell when the doors look too wide, and then it makes me think the room is even smaller than it would probably have looked if they’d left the pictures as they were. Picture 6 the door is too wide and the space looks a lot longer than it does in picture 4.

The lack of a bath might be putting people off. And I’d have to add another door in between the downstairs loo and the family room.

But it’s nice, and the garden is lovely and big.

No they were thinking you wanted our opinions on your listing without giving away that it’s yours.

Willmoris · 18/02/2026 21:01

I don't get why you would see house you might be interested in, and then post it on the internet for everyone to see?! It's the best way to advertise it to hundreds of other Mumsnetters!
Unless you're representing the vendor or something 🤔

TheFuturesSoBright · 18/02/2026 22:01

I like it. The garden is fab.

DrySherry · 19/02/2026 06:58

If your struggling to get interest you just need to reduce the price ! It's at least 70 to 80k overpriced imo

mondaytosunday · 19/02/2026 07:03

@Buscobel if it has been staged they’ve done a pretty poor job! Sticking some furniture in a room does not exactly add any personality, it simply describes the function.
OP it’s not my style of house at all but only you know if it ticks the right boxes. If it ticks enough go view!

Silverbirchleaf · 19/02/2026 07:56

It’s a nice looking house and a blank canvas. Lovely large garden. Good family home. However, as previous poster has said, It is a bit soulless at the moment, no pictures on the walls, etc.

Is it lived in at the moment? It says ‘back to market’ so I’m wondering if it didn’t sell before, and decorators have been in painting everything white, modernising the kitchen etc?

Don’t know area so can’t comment on price.

user1492757084 · 19/02/2026 08:08

It's a neat house with a great back yard and parking.

The drawings included with the house photographs are not of that house. Are they drawings for a future renovation?

The house is plain. Painting the front door a deep rich colour alone would add immediate character.

Imagine how your furniture will fit and how you will live.
It's a sweet house.
Is the price in keeping with similar for the street?
Is the house in a location that suits you?

MissingSockDetective · 19/02/2026 08:14

I think it would be worth a look, there is so little furniture that it is hard to imagine what the room sizes would feel like in real life. Overall it is tidy and well presented, you could add character through decorating. Garden looks like it could be lovely with some more trees in.

SeriouslyStressed · 19/02/2026 08:18

The plans seem to be for a new build 5 bedroom house on the land, not an extension

rainbowunicorn22 · 19/02/2026 08:27

It's a nice plain blank canvas to put your own stamp on.
good sized garden, which, even when you did an extension would still leave a family-friendly area
is a a good sized house but wonder why its been reduced and not snapped up? I do not know the area but might be worth finding out more on the area and especially the neighbours

OvernightBloats · 19/02/2026 08:34

Rubbish kitchen if you enjoy cooking; hardly any counter space. The cooker is crammed in with hardly any room around it. The rest of the house is fine, especially the garden, but the kitchen for the price of the house is a definite no.

rainingsnoring · 19/02/2026 10:21

It was bought as a refurb in 2023. The refurb is very basic quality, the kitchen is small but it does have a good sized garden. It obviously hasn't been snapped up at that price, despite one reduction. The ceiling price for the road is around £520 so I would be wary about paying a lot more, especially in a falling market.

HappyFace2025 · 19/02/2026 10:36

I like the house although I would want to extend the kitchen. Lovely garden. As ever it's the price that's too high in the current market. Planning permission to make into a 5 bed isn't worth paying so much more for the house as it stands, especially bearing in mind the building costs.

When I find a house I'm thinking of viewing/buying, the last thing I do is bring it to the attention of loads of people on a forum! Seems a very odd approach imo.

But whatever your reasons for sharing the link @TeaNbIscuiTes , I think it's a non-descript house, renovated on the cheap with an unrealistic vendor hoping to sell above market value something that still requires loads of work/£££ spent. The garden is large and has potential but overall it wouldn't grab me if I was looking in that location, I'm afraid.

Wow, if the ceiling price is £520, then £575 is a lot over it. Maybe they hoped a touch of paint would increase the value. I wouldn’t pay £50 grand over the ceiling price, for a house.

OneGiddyDuck · 19/02/2026 12:34

Bright and airy , I like it! I cannot comment on the price

I think it’s really nice… lots of space to extend and a real blank canvas. Id definitely book a viewing.

Tarquinosaurus · 19/02/2026 13:17

Photo 2 shows that the house is not on the street (or Close) rather it looks out onto the back of other houses?? Failed to find it on street view but I'll admit I am not good at that.

Kitchen kick boards sloppy, a hole on one side, coming off on the other. And that white good (?) on the end by the door does not fit, overshooting the space by many inches and is part-blocking the door to wc.
So cabinets maybe bought second hand?
Floors are quite cheap looking vinyl.
Iffy baseboards on the stairs photo.
All of that just suggesting shoddy low cost maintenance. Lack of care.
Also no bath tub.

But planning permission for a different house, which is probably what prompted the high price. Except that means you are spending that much for a building plot and have to also fork out big time for the actual house.
If I was looking for a house and had that much money to spend I would look elsewhere, even with that garden.
