What colour should I paint the front door?

Please help me with some inspiration for paint colours for a front door.

I need a colour that will work with red brick but no restrictions otherwise - not on a street so no neighbours doors to match/clash and no conservations or anything like that.

what should I do?

What kind of door? What style of house? Do you have a front garden?

Modern? Classic? Mid century? Vibrant and funky or muted and sophisticated?

I went with Bancha Green for a 1930s front porch.

I like this colour with red brick

Mid to deep green. Nothing pastel. Sage green has been done to death.

It’s a 1930s house but back to front so the front door is on the back wall of the house… so pretty ugly and featureless
really the front drive is paved. No garden to speak of and the door itself is quite modern - it’s an oak door with frosted panes but the wood has got some water damage / stains - so would like to paint to cover that over.

Bright yellow or bright turquoise - a happy colour

How about this?

I do think blue or a blue/green is the way to go.

We have red brick house and went frenchic steaming green, it's lovely.

Which direction does it face, there'll be a Feng Shui suggestion according to direction.

At a previous property when the downstairs neighbors asked what color to paint the front door, I had to say blue because I kept telling people it was blue although it was actually white!!

A friend has a yellow front door and it attracts lots of flies. I love the colour though.

We had a new front door last year and went for a deep forest green with a black surround. I absolutely love it. We went for green on the inside too, not the standard white, much to the salesman’s horror 😂 He was convinced we’d hate it being green on the inside but we love it - and when he saw it, he ended up agreeing that it suited the house.

(We’re in the middle of a whole renovation job and the front garden/step needs doing so please ignore the shabbiness 😂 - the old front door was almost hanging off and wouldn’t lock so we had to get the new one sooner than planned!)

This blue looks lovely. Around here every door has been painted soft/pastel green and it does look nice but it also feels very overdone now.

Red brick is a warm colour. Choose a warm-colour paint to go with it.

Are there other colours to consider and which might give ideas: windows. roofing, pointing, etc?

I love a really pale dusky pink but hubby likes bright red. I like the pale green/duck egg but this it is over done now! A neighbour went with yellow - I do like it but it’s not ‘us’ plus I’d now look like I was copying. I do like that blue someone has shared. Our house is a fairly boring red brick new build.

Local to me is a house with a pink front door. It’s lovely and I’m dead jealous but my DH would never countenance it. It is very unusual and stands out a treat!

What shade of yellow did they have? A 'cotswold stone' / soft gold / honey / buff can work well with redbrick.

When we lived in a redbrick house we had a yellow front door. (F and B Babouche.)

Pink looks awful with red brick. Neighbour has one and it just doesn't go with the bricks. Neither does bright red or yellow.

Blue looks good depending on the shade but all shades of green suit red brick the best. I had a new pale green front door last summer, green inside and out with black door furniture, I'm very happy indeed with it.

I think yellow as mentioned above is the best. It really stands out in a good way.

I love pink and red as a combo.

Your door looks so nice I think it’s the black surround that adds so much to it.
