LVT Flooring quote is this reasonable?

They said £100 per square foot to glue down and for flooring. Not including tear up and dispose of current flooring.

They don't use the top brands like Amtico, Karndean. Apparently not great quality compared to what they use.

Only one I've heard of that they use is Polyflor (which I like) the other stuff brands they use I've never heard of and that is unnerving.

They won't break down quote into materials and labour as apparently "it confuses the customers."

What do you think is this reasonable or not?

We paid £45sqm recently at Tapi with fitting on top and the screed levelling stuff extra too. We paid fitter/screener separately but they were freelance contractors for Tapi. £100 sounds v expensive.

I won't touch Tapi with a barge pole. Terrible customer service when I dealt with them and very pricey for what they offer imo.

My husband is a flooring fitter. He charges between £15 to £20 per sq metre to fit. Preparation of the sub floor is extra if required. He doesn't like Spacia. Said it isn't a good product and if you can't afford the next level up of the Amtico to go for Colonia or a polyflor own brand. I would want to see the quote broken down tbh.

Is preparation of the subfloor always required though? Why isn't it a good product I'm curious. I do like Polyflor.

I like Blackened Spa Wood in the Amtico Spacia. Is there an equivalent shade on the Polyflor.

I think I need to go to a supplier that fits every floor. It's hard to see/find the right shade and quality online.

Is there a flooring superstore with unbiased staff anywhere? 🤣

Polyflor have a website showing all the available shades and finishes
I chose from there and my fitter ordered from their source and fitted it
I have Polyflor Camaro nut tree which is natural but they have a wide range
It's waterproof and bombproof!

We had LVT 14 years ago in our sunny busy kitchen. Still looks great, hasn't faded and is totally mappable! Had a few tiny scratches but they fade over time and honestly not visible

I'm going to go with Amtico. The shades are beautiful, decent wear layer and lovely looking imprint and texture. There is so much more choice as compared to the likes of Polyflor etc.

The firm we used also did commercial work so were able to tell us various small businesses locally who they'd fitted LVT for (with the agreement of said businesses). One was a clothes shop who'd had the same colour Karndean that we liked on the sample, it was really helpful seeing it laid in a large space plus we could see how it looked in a high-traffic area and how it coped with scratches from clothes rails and footwear from customers.

Re not breaking costs down, I would be suspicious of any firm who refused to do that. My elderly mother was quoted a stupid price by a carpet company and it was a very convenient round number. I phoned up to query it and they point blank refused to give a breakdown, because they knew very well they'd just pulled a figure out of their arse and tried to take advantage of an old lady.
