I know I shouldn't do this. But every so often I put in a location in 'rightmove' and how much equity we think we have and see what I could buy there and live mortgage free

Nope. I do it too.

peanutbear · 27/02/2008 19:19

What have you found so far anything interesting

Twiglett · 27/02/2008 19:19

last one had a pool house in the garden

like a 'swimming pool in a building' pool house and not as I imagined from summary a pool table

we did it and are now in rented looking for somewhere!

nkf · 27/02/2008 19:20

Lots for your money in Lincolnshire wherever that is.

We are mortgage-free - I spend my time looking at websites imagining what I could buy when the children are at school and I can work properly again.

Tortington · 27/02/2008 19:21

god if it had a ppool table might have bought just for that.

peanutbear · 27/02/2008 19:22

wow do you fancy living in Ramsgate I think I would for a pool house

or a pool table !!

artichokes · 27/02/2008 19:23

I do this all the time.

First I look in London (where we are now). Then I start to fantasise about country living and move steadily west. I end up in Devon where I grew up. Then I show the results to DH who invariably snorts at any proprty outside Zone 2.

nkf · 27/02/2008 19:23

What can you get in Ramsgate?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 27/02/2008 19:23

Anyone got a million and a half ?

Twiglett · 27/02/2008 19:24

yabbut I wouldn't like to lug my shopping up those steps

Oh yes, I think I could buy a static mobile home with our equity! Or maybe a small terraced up north... but then even they are probably out of our range by now! Oh, to be mortgage free...

nkf · 27/02/2008 19:25

I love that "about 2 acres",

Twiglett · 27/02/2008 19:26

yeah .. can't get DH to contemplate moving out of zone 2 either

OP posts:
Tortington · 27/02/2008 19:27

this is for you twig

LadyOfWaffle · 27/02/2008 19:28

I want this the house to look at is abit... not my thing, but I used to keep my horse there and the whole place is so lovely THe stables are opposite the front door, 30 seconds of a walk

hercules1 · 27/02/2008 19:29

We should be mortgage free at some point in the next few years too. Still undecided where to live. I know I'd love to move to Devon but hard to leave London as kids in really good schools here.

Tortington · 27/02/2008 19:30

100 bedrooms

S1ur · 27/02/2008 19:32

Adajecnt to a landslip, mmm, possible a downside?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 27/02/2008 19:32

Adjacent to a landslip?

That'll be why they're selling, then.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 27/02/2008 19:32
TigerFeet · 27/02/2008 19:33

I'm in completely the opposite situation, houses where I live are relatively cheap and I think there have been a few instances of people moving here to go mortgage free.

Our house is worth next to fuck all in the grand scheme of things, we couldn't buy the same thing elsewhere without a big mortgage increase.

You probably don't want to tell us, but how much equity do you have Twig? I fancy surfing for house porn
