Nothing on the market - Cheltenham

We are relocating to Cheltenham and have been keeping an eye on the property market but there is very little coming on the market and not much at all we like the look of. Has anyone ever done anything such as post fliers through doors or streets they like the look of? Or does anyone have any other good tips for when looking? I thought of posting on a local website or something incase anyone is thinking about selling but am not sure where/if this is a good idea. Many thanks

I haven't posted flyers through doors, but I have heard of other people doing it with success. We've had a few through our door so it's not uncommon.

Thanks all. Our budget is up to a million and we need 4 beds minimum and off street parking. Ideally we need to be within 2 miles of the station for commuting.

There are quite a few that are 1 mill plus on at the moment that are overpriced but nice properties, I think there will be further reductions

The market is quite good at the moment in Cheltenham. How long have you been looking? What are your must haves? Anything you would compromise on?

So ideally our must haves are:
Minimum of 4 beds
Off street parking
Some kind of outdoor space
No more than 2 miles from the station
At least 1900/2000 square feet

Not essential but I would also really love quite a social kitchen space/kitchen-diner as as we don't have that at the moment and I think it would be really useful with the children. We would also love a bit of character so perhaps not a new build but not sure if we are asking for too much really given there doesn't seem to be much coming on the market (I have set up Rightmove/zoopla alerts and there only seems to be something coming on every two or three days, often that isn't suitable).

P.s. we dont need to be near any schools in particular. Our children are below school age so we'll obviously need to consider that but I've heard you can't go too far wrong with schools in Cheltenham so hopefully that's correct 🤞

There is one on hales road for just over 1million. Worth a look
Hatherley court road, under budget and close to the station but needs some work.
Prestbury road, stunning but not that much outside space.
Monica drive on pittville, lovely area.

There is quite a few out there just depends on what is important for you.
Do you mind doing work or do you want turn key? If you could be within 2.5/3 miles of the station it would really open your search area up.

There’s one on Queens Road which is literally the road the station is on. 975k (won’t let me link), it’s a lovely house and I used to live on that road - deeply regret moving!

It’s true though there’s not a lot in the market here, I look all the time. We’ve resigned ourselves to staying in our present house another couple of years.

There's a Facebook page called Cheltenham Noticeboard. It might be worth posting on there.
I wouldn't ignore schools completely either, some have small catchments so if you want something to walk to, you might want to check you're within reach.
