Nothing on the market - Cheltenham

mama2girls0 · 15/03/2023 14:47

We are relocating to Cheltenham and have been keeping an eye on the property market but there is very little coming on the market and not much at all we like the look of. Has anyone ever done anything such as post fliers through doors or streets they like the look of? Or does anyone have any other good tips for when looking? I thought of posting on a local website or something incase anyone is thinking about selling but am not sure where/if this is a good idea. Many thanks

and this one!

OMG ! One of those linked is my friends house. Won't say which.
Cheltenham is lovely but pricey and very busy.

I also wouldn't say all schools are good OP. I would look into this carefully before making a decision.

Good luck with the searching OP! Hope something comes up soon for you.

I’d love to hear some opinions on Cheltenham primary schools if you don’t mind sharing @MissyB1 Particularly in and around Bishops Cleeve?

@mummyinthemadhouse I don’t know anything about the Bishops Cleeve primary schools unfortunately, but can tell you the Cheltenham ones I hear really good things about.
Naunton Park Leckhampton
St Mary’s Prestbury
Holy Apostles Charlton Kings
Christchurch
Greatfield Hatherley
St Marks Hatherley
Shurdington

Also worth looking at some of the smaller village schools, there’s a lovely one in Cobberley.

Its also worth thinking about senior schools, Cheltenham is slightly complicated in being part of the Grammar School system. That’s either good or bad depending on your child! There is a brand new (non selective) high school which has just opened though in Leckhampton.

Thank you, appreciate it @MissyB1 It’s all a bit of a maze to me at the moment!

We are relatively new to the area but agree that it’s a fantastic area for families, we’re loving it!

Would also look at Swindon village primary. I've heard amazing things and it's the 'right' side for bishops cleeve however the catchment is quite small. A few houses on the market atm for approx £750k nearby

I live in bishops cleeve and love it's
My daughter attends one of the primary school and I've not had any issues. There are currently 3 primary schools in cleeve with a 4th being built next year. There is one secondary schools which I've only heard good things about.

Thanks all. Really good to know. Does anyone have any experience of any of the below primary schools in Cheltenham and whether they are good by any chance:

Holy Trinity Church of England
St John's Church of England
Holy Apostles Church of England

Thank you!

Don’t know anything about Holy Trinity I’m afraid.
Holy Apostles is very popular and I have a lot of friends whose kids have been there, quite competitive to get in I think. I might be wrong but I think you have to attend the church regularly.
St John’s is a lovely little school and I’ve never heard anything bad about it, but the downside is lack of outdoor space as it’s in the town centre basically.

I know a few kids who have been very happy at Holy Trinity, that would be my pick of the 3.
Holy Apostles, you need to live within a couple of streets of the school - or be a regular church goer, to be sure of a place. The church ethos put me off, but others might love that.

St Johns is in a carpark. Otherwise, I think it is a nice school.
