Have fallen in love with a house. We would eventually extend but we’re talking a few years away. The ONLY negative is the bathroom. It currently has a shower cubicle. We would 100% be wanting to change this to a bath with shower over. I’m talking small small - 1.7m by 2m.

Give me your best small bathroom inspiration please🤞🏼😬

Do you have estate agents pics of current lay out?
My bathroom is similar size and we've just done it.
Fitted a bath in, shower over bath.

ReeseWitherfork · 06/07/2022 20:14

I don’t have a small bathroom, but a very squashed one. Our bath is only 1400 long. It does the job! I fit in there (uncomfortably) with my toddler, can do two kids quite easily, and it’s just about acceptable for a soak myself (albeit a squeezed one).

I actually don’t have! It’s the only room not photographed and the floor plan just shows a room outline rather than layout! Here is my own personal artwork 😬🤣

Shower, sink, toilet and then the blue is the door opening in and the window lol

i did think of a small bath but I think most of one wall would have to be taken up with the bath anyway and we could probably fit in standard one - Just 😬🤣

We have 2 little bathrooms. I will post pics later. The en-suite doesn’t bother me tbh but I wish the main bathroom was bigger. I’m hoping the need for baths diminishes as we become more careful with resources.

HSKAT · 06/07/2022 20:43

This what we've done to ours.
So the bath does take up a wall but still have a little walk way between that and the sink etc
It is small like I say but tbh it's been fine. We also have a child and been no issue getting him in and out etc.

We have 6ft by 6 ft bathroom so not much difference

we have corner bath with shower over

SwedishEdith · 06/07/2022 21:17

That's pretty much the size of ours. Changed door to open flat against wall. Sink on same wall. Toilet under window (search for one with a low cistern) and bath with shower over on wall opposite sink. It's fine. We had a bigger bathroom but swapped with this room to get a bigger bedroom,

One of our bathrooms (main one we use) is only 1500x1900. We have a 1500mm bath along the short side with a large shower head above. We then have a combined toilet and sink with a vertical radiator along longer wall. The other short wall has three towel rails and hooks (one for each DC with a mirror above. We have a sliding barn door. The space works for us

Africa2go · 06/07/2022 21:54

Ours is roughly that width (but longer). When we were having it done we went to 2 or 3 bathroom designers and they all put the bath along the back wall (opposite the door, left to right where you have your toilet and sink) as it maximises the space. We then have a compact toilet and wall hung sink on the left hand wall where you have the shower. Lots of tricks with tiles / mirrors / underfloor heating to avoid a radiator and it feels like a good size.

ComtesseDeSpair · 06/07/2022 22:12

Our en-suite is a similar size and layout. We also replaced the shower cubicle - which used to be where the basin now is - with a shower over bath which is where the basin used to be.

You can get lovely compact wall hung sinks/vanity units these days op. You can also get the small sized baths. A good bathroom firm or plumber will defo be able to help you fit things in, you just have to think a bit outside the box xx

User74936782 · 07/07/2022 06:48

Ours is about that size (1930s house) and we have a bath with a shower over, door opens outwards which makes a difference, we can't extend the room as there is nowhere to go.

urbanbuddha · 07/07/2022 06:50

A very minimalist basin if you can find one?

Pascha · 07/07/2022 06:54

Ours is a similar size. We hung the door so it swings outwards to not take up space inside. We tiled every wall white floor to ceiling except one to give the illusion of light and space. Shower over 1600ft bath which is is. OK. We thought it would be tight but it becomes normal.

Vallmo47 · 07/07/2022 06:58

@urbanbuddha Is that a urinal?!!!😳😳 Sorry it’s really early after a rough night. 😂

@ComtesseDeSpair Looks amazing!

Summerof22 · 07/07/2022 07:00

I would go to Pinterest and search Small Bathrooms, you’ll get loads of ideas there.

ColdColdHart · 07/07/2022 07:03

@urbanbuddha That's incredibly ugly. Something I'd expect to see in a German or Scandi public toilet where men could urinate and wash their hands and urine off at the same time.

averythinline · 07/07/2022 07:08

How wide is the wall on the left where the shower is.?...ours is similar and have the bath along the left wall with shower over think its 1650 and also small sink/vanity between bath and door ...which opens out...

also have a bath panel that opens for storage and a towel rail under window

Toilet you can get short protruding ones .....just check dimensions ..
This left space for radiator on the wall between toilet and door..
Have a mirror cabinet above toilet and sink for storage...cheap bnq but does the job

To save money we just tiled the wall behind sink and bath and painted the rest....large metro tiles so easier to clean

Because the sink bath are next to each other we ended up with shower curtain rather than screen as makes it easier to get in/out....also cheaper! But get a decent rail....

Its been great as can refresh with just a lick of paint new shower curtain ... eBay is great for decent taps /baths etc

AwkwardPaws27 · 07/07/2022 07:09

Not quite finished, but this is 1.45m x 2.45m.

The bath is 1500mm - we could have squeezed in a longer one but would have need to have the door open outwards, or switch to a bifold or pocket door, as otherwise the door would hit the bath.

There is a decent gap either side of the vanity unit too, and it's 550mm.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 07/07/2022 07:14

Could the door be shifted to open outwards? That would help.
Shorter bath on back wall and toilet and sink where shower is would give the most space.
Is there any possibility of stealing more space from a room next door? But I think it is workable as it is

k1233 · 07/07/2022 07:45

I think something like this would work nicely. Do the bath and shower up the window end and flip the toilet and vanity to the left hand wall and change your door to open flush against the right hand wall.

Something like this

We have a very tiny bathroom. Not at home so cant take pics but basically a 1400 x 700 bath takes up the entire of one wall with overhead shower. Then toilet and sink on the opposite wall. And that's it. The other two walls each have the window and the door. We are also putting a shower room in the loft. DH is 6'2 so it isn't ideal but he rarely has baths and the small bath works for the DC, which is the most important thing for me.
