Have fallen in love with a house. We would eventually extend but we’re talking a few years away. The ONLY negative is the bathroom. It currently has a shower cubicle. We would 100% be wanting to change this to a bath with shower over. I’m talking small small - 1.7m by 2m.

Give me your best small bathroom inspiration please🤞🏼😬

Would you consider something like a Japanese style bathtub whick you sit in rather than lie down, and have a shower above. Might make the room feel less cramped.

Tinybathroomideas · 07/07/2022 23:02

There are some really great ideas here guys - thank you 😊

The house had a closing date today and we got it 🥳🥳 fingers crossed it won’t be too long until we have keys in hand and can start sorting tiny bathroom plans 👍🏻🤣

Our house is weird, bigish rooms everywhere else but tiny bathrooms, the main family bathroom is only 1700x 1700ish so small. We couldn't fit in a freestading bath which is what I wanted because of the width but I did buy a deep bath as our ensuite is even tinier and definitely can't fit a bath in there.

Mine is just under 6ft x6ft. These pics are when it was nearly done (bath hasn't been sealed yet!) and no storage in yet. It helps that it's an old cottage with narrow doors so had room for a towel radiator next to door, with a standard door there wouldn't have been room.

I have a shower room the same size on the floor below so didn't need to put a shower over the bath here.

@urbanbuddha That's incredibly ugly. Something I'd expect to see in a German or Scandi public toilet where men could urinate and wash their hands and urine off at the same time.

It's the Barbican Basin, an iconic piece of design history and on display at the V&A.

We have a similar layout to other posters - bath on one wall, toilet & sink opposite, door opens into sink area and against bath (couldnt open outwards as is at top of stairs). To fit the bath in we had to cut a chunk out of the door architrave, and also the plasterboard + tiling sits down onto the bath rim which gaves us a few cm. We also chose a central filler which increases the bath volume for the same dimensions (because there isn't a thicker end for the taps) the tap and shower diverter are on the wall.
We couldn't fit a shower screen in, could have used a standard curtain, but found a make which has piston arm that unfolds and reveals the curtain inside - hides away neatly (we have another shower so this is occasional use only).

Big mirror on toilet/sink wall makes space look bigger. Heated towel rail under window. Cabinets under sink and either side of mirror gives adequate storage.

Congratulations!

My bathroom is very small. When you're sitting on the toilet, you can touch the sink and the shower. We've made the most of it by having a slim cabinet above the sink, a tall radiator and storage above the toilet. I would like a bit more space as there are things I'd like to keep in there that we don't have space for, but we manage.

kirinm · 08/07/2022 13:50

We have a very small bathroom. It is a really awkward space not helped by the fact it has a slanted ceiling which is the stairs of the building (it is a flat conversion). It only ever had a bath in, there wasn't enough ceiling height to put in a shower but we finally managed it last month. We had several plumbers tell us not to do what we planned and just put in a shower (no bath) but I knew that it would be hard to sell with no bath.

One of the things that helped us utilise the limited space was changing the door around so it opens outwards now rather than inwards. Could that help?

kirinm · 08/07/2022 13:56

It's not finished yet but these give an indication of what an annoying space it is. I think we've done the best we can. It's never going to be massive!

The shower screen goes flat against the wall which is good because it's not a very pretty one!

The one in our old house was about that size. We put in a pocket door (it slides into the wall cavity, and turned it into a wet room, sink and loo were wall hung.
You can get a bath called a Tubby Tub that’s very small and would have fitted in they are not cheap over £2k I think but as I never bath from one year to the next and we had another bathroom with a bath in it we went for a rainfall shower instead.
You can do a lot even with a small bathroom.

@SollaSollew That’s like this house - small bathroom and kitchen but great sized family rooms and bedrooms!
That bath looks ideal!! Where is it from if you don’t mind me asking? Love your tiles too 😊

Is it a 1930s house as they often have small bathrooms. Our bathroom originally only housed a sink and bath so would have been perfectly adequate for that as the only toilet was downstairs behind the rear hall.

Tootsensuite · 09/07/2022 05:48

Here’s some of mine - we bought a house with a stupid amount of tiny bathrooms!

I love my house, but the bathroom is teeny tiny. I haven't done it up yet, so I'm not posting pics because the decor is grim, but here is a very scribbled layout picture. We have a mirror and hanging shelves on the back of the door.

When I do it up, I'm going to keep the same layout, but get a bath panel that can be pulled out for storage, and put up a high shelf above the door and along the wall above the radiator. The ancient IKEA hanging shelf/mirror combo is no longer available, so I'm probably going to do a similar door-based storage system but built onto the door, possibly involving pegboard.

Forgot the scribbled picture

Hi @Tinybathroomideas it's this bath also if you like the tiles they are these from stone deals they're real marble and only £36 a sqm so was really happy with them.

catfunk · 09/07/2022 09:24

Mine is tiny and we have a small deep bathtub. I love it. I'm a size 16 too so not tiny.
Really struggle in a normal bathtub now as I feel like I'm lying too flat and keep sliding down under the water !

SallyLockheart · 09/07/2022 12:34

@catfunk if you don’t mind me asking, what bath did you buy? I’ve been looking at them but there is no where close that stocks them and I normally like to see baths and sit in them

ChateauMargaux · 09/07/2022 19:13

When I was 20, I lived in a tiny apartment in Paris for the summer - the bathroom had a shower, a toilet and a sink but if you wanted to close the door and sit on the toilet, you had to swing your legs round and put your feet into the shower - and I do not have long legs!!

We had a few people come round when we were splitting our bathroom into two - many of whom said I would not be able to get all the bathroom furniture I wanted in there - I proved the wrong - squared paper and cut out shapes to move around was my friend!
We now have two beautiful bathrooms where once we had just one.

We have a very small ensuite without a bath. I can’t work out for myself if it’s possible to get a bath in. Any recommendations for bathroom designers please?

KatharineofAragon · 16/07/2022 10:53

Just measured mine.It is 9 foot by 66 inches . At the moment we have a corner shower enclosure with sink and vanity units . I am desperate for a bath. Any of you clever people got any suggestions? I have never done any like this before. It is a rectangular space with window on the far right

I had a similar bathroom in Paris. My knees almost touched the window in front of the toilet when I sat down. My DP had to sit sideways and put his feet either under the sink or in the shower 🤣

In our current house the previous owners took out a bath sized space from the second bedroom. It's now a small double with enough space for a bed and shallow dressing tables and drawers.

I love Japanese soaking baths. I'm 5ft and can't relax in our standard sized bath without fear of slipping under the water. I'm still trying to convince DH who thinks it would be a turn off for future buyers.
