Page 2 | Waiting for exchange

After putting an offer in on a house in December! Today is the day we are supposed to exchange! Three exchange deadlines missed (due to our buyers solicitor) so Im feeling uneasy! Our selling is ready to pull out if this doesnt happen today! Fingers and toes crossed! Its just excruciating waiting!

Congrats OP! No, sadly. It's taking ages due to enquiries bouncing back and forth at the top of the chain. Everyone else is ready and waiting, although bottom of the chain have been ready so long they are getting fed up. Hopefully next week so the chain doesn't end up falling apart!

Oh bloody hell what a nightmare! It seems that the process likes to see everyone close to loosing the will to live until they pull their finger out and exchange! I have everything crossed for you for next week x

Still waiting here but we weren't given a timescale anyway. Exchange has been mentioned by all parties recently but I think we're still waiting on the buyer's solicitors and lender to confirm they're happy. This is so so stressful.

Its one of the most stressful things Ive been through so many said it would be and I was like dont be silly!

Thought I'd bump this to see if anyone's exchanged yet. 😅It's been two months since my last post and exchange has still not happened. We had a number of hiccups but I've been told we should now be able to exchange, and I foolishly thought it might be today, but obviously it wasn't! I have read enough MN threads to know that exchange always takes ages but for some reason I got my hopes up. 😂

We are supposed to be completing on Friday and I'm getting a bit nervous because I still can't believe it actually happening, and also booking a removal van is going to be a nightmare. Whyyyy is this process like this?! 😫

Anyway, I hope everyone in this thread has managed to exchange and complete, or are getting there!

We were supposed to have completed and moved today but our buyers pulled out on Thursday with a feeble excuse. Stressed 😩

@Denny53 Shit. So sorry to hear that. That's awful. ☹️ What was their reason? That is my fear too. It seems that people are pulling out all the time at the moment so I'm really not getting my hopes up either. I hope you're ok.

We still haven't exchanged but I've done some research and it seems the solicitors can't exchange until the lender has confirmed release of funds, which can take a few days. Ours were only requested on Monday so may be a few days. We've been pressured to book removal vans for Friday and I have a feeling they might attempt exchange and completion at the same day which just screams trouble to me. 😶

We ended up exchanging on a Friday and moving the following Wednesday. That exchange was a week later than planed due to our buyers solicitor saying the same thing about funds...don't know why he waited till then to mention it..they had been ready to exchange for 2 months!

We got a few removal companies around and the one we picked penciled us in, then as soon as exchange happened we paid then.

Congrats on completing @mrsed1987 ! 😁That must have been stressful. I do wish the process was easier.

I just spoke to our EA and it looks like we may end up doing a simultaneous exchange/completion on Friday. We had to book removals because otherwise it will be impossible to find anyone available. So if it all goes wrong on Friday we will be losing more money. 😭 EA seemed confident though, and our solicitors are very chill about Friday so hopefully they'll be able to sort it on time. I'm starting to get stressed now though, and DH is finally getting into a frantic mode after remaining reasonably calm for months.
