Anyone else hoping to exchange this week?

We have been clear from the outset that we want to exchange this week. Everyone seems to be saying it’s possible but we are awaiting actual confirmation! Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat, we can keep each other company! 😊

Me. We were expecting to exchange and complete in April. Then in May. Now we're in June and supposed to be exchanging today.

I am beginning to lose the plot with this.

Oh crikey! What were the reasons for the hold up? Are you in a long chain?

Found out today that our solicitor has not even let the other solicitor know about our proposed exchange/completion dates! She has been in possession of these dates for over four weeks!

Apparently, because the other side are still in the dark re dates, they have not applied for their redemption statement. And without this, we can't exchange. They take up to 7 working days to come through, so even if they apply for it tomorrow, we will not be exchanging this week.

I feel SO let down by my solicitor!!

@XiTime think you found my thread?! We're meant to be chain-free but in fact aren't as our seller/estate agent failed to mention the need for probate on his onward purchase. But we only found that out a few weeks down the line after our solicitor asked some questions!

When were you hoping to complete?

We have sent off enquiries and have signed the contract ready to give the solicitors it on Friday! Unsure where that means we are in the process??! Hopefully near the end! X

Yes us. Originally agreed completion for 1st June. Then moved to exchange end of May. Now exchange this week. Still waiting to hear from buyer's solicitor and seller hadn't heard about this at the end of last week. Must not stress!!!

Finally exchanged today! After 2 weeks of waiting for the other side to exchange (they set the date and I sent deposit 2 weeks ago!!)
Now trying to make a to do list!

I don't care if it is on fire, I just want my own home, I've been couch surfing since October! Not long a week tomorrow!

We just failed to exchange today as well. Apparently we're now 'hoping' for this week!

I did the price comparisons a few weeks ago - it's more complicated as house will be unoccupied for a couple of months - so not too bad to get it set up last night!

I just stuck with my previous company, I know cardinal sin, but they've always been so helpful!

Now trying to work out what I can get referrals for, so far only internet and tv come to mind. Doubt any energy companies are touting for new customers right now 🤣

Well, supposed to be exchanging tomorrow and neither set of solicitors is responding to me or to the estate agent to say if it can go ahead. Haven’t heard from them since Tuesday.

I guess we are not exchanging tomorrow!

We, completely unexpectedly, exchanged today too!

Still waiting to exchange. Sold our house in December and accepted offer on ours in January. Big chain. Meant to exchanging tomorrow but I think it’ll Monday because there is still one things outstanding for one of the chain. We were meant to have done it way before this- we were supposed to complete yesterday! I have never been so stressed. Once we’ve exchanged I can finally relax. We are planning to complete end of June.

do I need building insurance for the new house? I didn’t realise this.

Fingers crossed for exchange and completion to be all done in a fortnights time. Just now waiting on solicitors after having waited and waited and waited on 4 surveyors.
