What are your stair and landing carpets please?

Have moved into a 3 year old house which was carpeted throughout in a cheap light brown flecked polyester carpet. It hasn't worn well, I'm not a fan of beige plus the previous owners (the builders themselves ffs) we're horrors both to my lovely nextdoor neighbours and left the house in a terrible state for me (all sinks leaking, all showers broken, boiler poorly fitted not under warranty and keeps breaking etc etc) so keen to replace 'their' carpet.

Can't afford to do whole house but it's the stairs and landing I notice the most.

I'm saying stripes but my teens tell me that's a long ago trend.

What are you good people using on stairs?

As much as the trauma of the house move has made me think I'd like to stay in this house forever I should be planning to downsize to a smaller house in 5-8 years if the teens grow up and become self sufficient.

Went to the site @GiantKitten and found that. flooringmegastore.co.uk/barbican/
would that be a good choice for stairs?

@fingercrossed
It says “action backing” which is the same as in the description of the Mississippi one, so it could be.
Worth you checking what’s available at suppliers local to you though - I got mine locally and it didn’t cost nearly as much as flooring megastore (I only linked that because it was the first one up on google!)
They generally know a bit about it and can make recommendations based on your requirements. Mine were very helpful (& patient, it took me ages to decide! 😳)

Oh I thought the flooringmegastore be a good steal? I did get quotes from two locals but they were incredibly out of expectations! actually thinking if I could lay the carpet myself but it would be a great challenge for the stairs isn't it?

Personally it may be a bit dated these days but I like quite a tough neutral Berber cord on stairs- it's hard wearing and doesn't tend to show dirt, we've just moved back to uk from a house in Denmark with painted wood stairs- would never have them again, mega clattering and always felt a bit like living in a holiday cottage- despite looking very nice!!
