Extension Thread 2022....plaster, panic and pics

Slightly naff title but I haven't had enough coffee yet

We are at that stage now where every day I come home to massive changes. I finally have a view of how big the final space is going to be with the last wall down and it's fabulous.

We have a small corner for a seating area which currently is an external wall with an old coal shed window. Behind it is our new pantry so it is due to be blocked and plastered over but part of me wants to keep the window and leave that 2ft of brick exposed. Madness as the window would just look in on shelves and need some sort of covering but it feels such a shame to hide it. Not sure what to do.

I really can't wait to do that, how sad am I? I am also itching to clean the glass in the new sliding doors but I know there is no point really at the moment. Worktops are coming tomorrow, exactly one week after templating. I'm impressed and excited 😊

@NewHouseNewMe  I would but the builder talked me out of it! Essentially there's a stud wall going in behind where that window sits with a small corner seating area, so a sofa with its arm under the window. It would have meant a 3ft strip of bare brick from the corner of the pantry to the new wall. Window replaced with stained glass maybe as it looks in on the pantry.

Thank you @Callmejudith. It's going to be about 40sqm, plus the new utility / dressing room / en suite behind it. It's so good to have some insulation in, we are finally warming up a bit!

Roofers have randomly arrived (thought it was going to be next week) so I’m quite excited today as right now I am a bit exposed

This is what it currently looks like when I open my indoor hall door, so I have been a bit anxious and didn’t sleep very well as the house wasn’t locked.

Looks like a good day for many of us. I have the granite worktop fitters downstairs and I'm desperate to go and have a look but have had to leave it to DH. The "glue" smell throughout the house is amazing though

@PoshWatchShitShoes - that kitchen is divine!! Exactly what I am looking for but with a double oven & warming drawer (I hope) on one side of the hob and the integrated fridge freezer on the other. You give me hope that there is an end to the whole thing!

I'm in London this week, and when back home I'm three hours north of where the renovation is taking place - so essentially I am dependent on the builder and my Bro taking pictures regularly!! At least it means that when I go and visit i see major progress, however I would like to be able to check in the odd evening - but a 6 hour round trip is not really practical!

@AwkwardPaws27 congratulations! I am also expecting which adds a wonderful additional element of stress (and joy of course!) to the whole affair. We will be moving out when our work is getting done, hopefully for no more than 9 months. I'm trying to convince myself it will all be a bit easier as I'll be on maternity leave

Your plan looks great, can I ask what your first quote for the work was? Just trying to gauge the price for a job this size!
