Holiday home locations easily accessible from SW London

We have friends with houses in the New Forest and the Witterings but they seem too far to go for just a weekend

Where else is nice and easily accessible from SW London?

Petworth looks nice

I mean, I commute 2 hours to work into and out of London, so 2-3 hours for a weekend seems like a breeze. You'd be there by dinner time on Friday.
