What colour would you go for personally?

The rest of the house is the yellow brick. We will eventually have a black and white Victorian pathway.

What colours are in the stained glass above it? Can’t see from the picture

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 31/03/2021 10:52

Red.

Lurkingforawhile · 31/03/2021 10:53

Blue

l2b2 · 31/03/2021 10:53

Frenchic wise old sage.

Dooreen · 31/03/2021 10:54

Oh and would you paint the whole doorframe the same colour as the door?

I think this would look good and make the door appear larger, however it doesn’t seem to be the done thing, all the door frames around seem to be white. Does anyone know why this is? Maybe I just have bad taste 😊

Thank you for the comments. The stained glass is green and yellow.

I would go for red.

ThatOtherPoster · 31/03/2021 10:57

Royal Mail red. And keep the woodwork white.

Dinosauraddict · 31/03/2021 10:58

I would keep it green to match the stained glass and be in keeping with a popular colour from the era.

l2b2 · 31/03/2021 11:09

No I would keep the frame white. I always think the finished look is totally weird when people paint the frames same as colour as their front door.

HuntingoftheSnark · 31/03/2021 11:12

Sage green, white frame.

RickiTarr · 31/03/2021 11:14

Red doors look great on Victorian houses and are due for a revival. Stick with a white frame, though.

Dooreen · 31/03/2021 11:14

I think if it wasn’t in the shade, I’d be keen on grass-green or royal blue (the primary colours). However it is only slightly darker than primary green now but it looks darker. It’s almost always in the shade due to the porch and north-facing.

So I’d have to go quite light green or light blue I think. The sage green is quite popular around here. I personally prefer pure vibrant colours to pastels though.

I’ll think about red.

I'd paint it a very bright yellow, almost lime green Smile

Orchidflower1 · 31/03/2021 11:28

Pillar box red door and brilliant white frame.

Lovely looking brick work.

mawbroon · 31/03/2021 11:34

Green. And you also need an old piano 🤣

Dooreen · 31/03/2021 12:06

I would love to make yellow/lime green work, it would make a very happy looking house. I suspect it would be about getting that perfect shade, and I wouldn’t be confident enough to go for it! Also DH would not let me.

Looks like the vote is with red but keep any other opinions coming. Thank you.

Red - my BIL said it's lucky to have a red door Wink

ShakinStevensHimself · 31/03/2021 12:13

I would choose pale pink or pale blue - sage green is all over the place at the moment and is a bit trendy for me. However F&B do great pure greens that aren't dark e.g. breakfast room green that would look brilliant with the yellow brick and a white frame.

steppemum · 31/03/2021 12:30

because the stained galss is green and yellow, I think that restricts it.

But then how well do you see the colours in the glass form the outside?

I would say green, to match the glass, or black to match new black and white tiles.

frame white

Neonlightning · 31/03/2021 12:30

A very soft pink

CosyAcorn · 31/03/2021 12:31

I would say red too. Red door, white frame looks so lovely with a wreath at Christmas
