We are in the middle of a full house renovation and will need to paint every room in the house. Do you have a favourite paint colour you always use? If so, please share.
I’ll start off - I have used Farrow and Ball Light Blue in my last two bedrooms and will use it in every bedroom I have from now on. I love it, it’s such a beautiful, calm colour.

A suggested colour is a light blue. For example , try #80bfff (hex colour code) not bright and distracting but not to dark and scary... a light blue will help a child sleep that isnt to distracting.

F and B skimming stone is my favourite colour. We've got it in our lounge and I wish we'd painted every room this colour.

Rhica · 10/05/2020 11:01

I struggle so much with paint colours! Just trying to decide one now for my extension. My lounge is pebble shore though and I love love love it!

Dulux Rock Salt

Ginfordinner · 10/05/2020 11:11

I like pastel shades as I hate dark rooms. I painted the kitchen in a very pale icy blue last year, and it has brightened the room no end. I have recently redecorated 2 rooms in milk white.

NotMeNoNo · 10/05/2020 11:18

A colour called Heron from the Dulux Trade palette. Absolutely lovely cool grey green. I've used it in two bedrooms and will use it again. I think Id go for white or a warm off white if I was doing a whole house the same though.

Theres a Dulux mix to order set of blues called Azure Sky which are lovely for kids rooms, really sunny blues.

I like my Little Greene/F&B but these have been most versatile.

Kamma89 · 10/05/2020 11:37

@Bluesheep8 Snap! It's such a great colour, not quite cream, not quite grey, can look warm & cool depending what else is in the room or orientation. It's a winner!

Uhohmummy · 10/05/2020 14:26

Thank you!
Sorry if I wasn’t clear - we’re not doing the whole house the same colour, but looking for recommendations as need to choose colours for hall, sitting room, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms.
PrincessHoneysuckle I’m looking for a grey-ish White for the bathroom, do you think Rock Salt would work?
I’ll definitely add Skimming Stone and Heron to my list of ones to test as well.

I would have to say Farrow and Ball Setting Plaster. It's not for everyone but I just love it. Painted my bedroom and bathroom this colour

We will be going for neutral throughout with a view to selling soon so think ammonite is on the cards.

Light blue is lovely. I love a blue bedroom.

WellTidy · 10/05/2020 16:22

I love Laura Ashley twine. I have it in a few rooms and would happily use it again.

ParkheadParadise · 10/05/2020 16:22

Pure brilliant white

sarahc336 · 11/05/2020 07:07

@Smallgoon I've been eyeing up setting plaster for my bedroom for a while but been undecided, but your photos have just help make my decision to defo go for it, it's a lovely colour isn't it thanks Grin

Bluesheep8 · 11/05/2020 07:24

kamma89 sums it up perfectly. I also have my kitchen cupboards done in it. I'm convinced that if it was used in a whole house, it would look different in every room Smile

Smallgoon · 11/05/2020 11:59

@sarahc336 Yes, it's really beautiful, I don't think you'll regret it. It's a muted pink with grey tones so not too in your face.

Uhohmummy · 11/05/2020 14:20

I’m tempted by Setting Plaster now too. Am looking for a not too sugary pink for my daughter’s room. Do you think it would work with soft grey curtains?

In our last house every room was pure brilliant white except our bedroom which was 'Elephant's Breath'. I think I loved the name as much as the colour.

Currently painting our new house and while the playroom and DCs rooms are pure brilliant white (with colour added with fabrics and artwork and toys) the downstairs bathroom has a floral wallpaper with dark blue background and we've colour matched the background colour to paint the roof. It'sgorgeous! I'm now lusting over various colours (well pinks and blues mainly!) for the rest of the house but trying to work out how to get them all to flow together is hard.

Kamma89 · 11/05/2020 16:12

@Uhohmummy Setting plaster would go very well with grey. My colleague has a large grey marl sofa in her living room and SP on the walls.

It's a great colour but looks much pinker in real life than photos I found. Do a big test patch on lining paper first. Well worth it & can be moved around the room.

My fav, skimming stone looked completely different in photos than in real life too.

Fortyfifty · 11/05/2020 16:38

Colours in my house which I love are Craig and Rose porcelain blue. It has a slight 1950s green tinge to it in bright sunlight. It's in my kitchen and so durable and easy to wipe down with a damp cloth. I live Craig and Rose paints more than F&B and Little Greene for their ease of use and durability.

We've a shower room packed a very subtle grey/white in Crown Seldom Seen. It's a bright colour just on the silvery/grey side of white.

My absolute favourite paint colour is F&B Pink Ground. I'm envious that my teen DDs bedroom is this colour and mine's not. It's a gorgeous vintage pink colour not at all sickly or stereotypically girly.

TeeBee · 11/05/2020 17:01

I have Setting Plaster in my bathroom against grey, if you wanted help in deciding.

I have used Dulux Jasmine White in the bedrooms. I just wanted something neutral to cover up the awful blue that was here when we moved in but I'm really surprised by how beautiful it looks. It is a really soft , warm white that doesn't look too cream. Although it's much nicer in the bright, south facing room than the north facing room.

Watching this with interest and with a couple of questions:

Is F&B worth the price?

Can anyone recommend a sage green for a period home? (I like F&B Lichen but looking for alternatives).

PerplexingWords · 11/05/2020 17:31

We’ve put F&B Arsenic in the bathrooms of our last two houses. It looks great with black and white or just white tiles.

We’ve also used Clunch a few times and Cornforth White is our last two kitchens.

Dix Blue is my favourite. I don’t have it anywhere just now because we have hardly decorated but had it along a 30ft wall in our old family/dining room.

Uhohmummy · 11/05/2020 20:10

Perplexing I LOVE Arsenic and would love to use it in our shower room but don’t know if I’m brave enough. Would you mind posting a photo of your bathroom?
Thanks for the photo TeeBee - your bathroom looks great. And I really like the look of Jasmine White too.
