What’s your favourite paint colour?

We are in the middle of a full house renovation and will need to paint every room in the house. Do you have a favourite paint colour you always use? If so, please share.
I’ll start off - I have used Farrow and Ball Light Blue in my last two bedrooms and will use it in every bedroom I have from now on. I love it, it’s such a beautiful, calm colour.

We have used the ColourCourage paints throughout our whole house - by far the best quality we have found for a good price (compared with our experiences of Dulux, F&B, Valspar etc). Instead of Setting Plaster we have the similar (slightly less pink) Marsh Mellow in our spare bedroom, Morning Melon below the dado rail on the stairs, Contzen White everywhere there isn't colour, Le Chat Gris in our living/dining room...etc etc.

Looks amazing @PerplexingWords- thank you! It’s such a brilliant colour.
I’ve never heard of ColourCourage bravo - will look them up

I have F&B Pale Powder in my bedroom and I love it. It's made my North facing bedroom so restful and light.

MarshaBradyo · 12/05/2020 18:49

F&B Dimpse
Very understated
Or maybe even F&B All White which is just white but looks fresh

HasaDigaEebowai · 12/05/2020 18:55

I have F&B skimming stone as the background to my dining room wallpaper (lotus). It's teamed with pointing and its a lovely combination.

I'd paint every room in Dulux Graceful Green if DH would let me

QforCucumber · 12/05/2020 19:03

Dulux pebble shore -i absolutely love it, it's not grey, it's not beige, it is warm - fantastic in our North facing lounge both in our old house and the current one..

missyB1 · 12/05/2020 19:10

@Fortyfifty do you think Craig and Rose porcelain blue would work in a small north facing bedroom? I’m looking to paint my ds bedroom but I don’t want anything cold.

DanniArthur · 12/05/2020 19:16

I've just redecorated my living room. Its went from grey and blue to a beautiful pale green with a green patterned wallpaper featured wall. Not everyone's taste but I love nature so I'm adding lots of houseplants too.

Elsiebear90 · 12/05/2020 19:19

I love Mylands paints, they’re pretty much the same price as F&B, but much thicker, durable (they have crushed marble in) and have a better finish imo. My favourite colour from their range is threadneedle, it’s a light pink/grey. We painted our bedroom in it and it’s lovely, changes colour depending on the light.

@missyB1

My kitchen/diner is south and west facing. However, I have 2 bedrooms in my house which are painted in a pale blue and pale porcelain is nothing like them. It's definitely a brighter colour and I think it would be great in a bedroom, even north facing. I've just gone into the kitchen at 7.30pm to stare at the colour in the darkest corner and it doesn't look cold.

Fortyfifty · 12/05/2020 19:32

Sorry - pale porcelain should say porcelain blue.

missyB1 · 12/05/2020 19:39

Thanks Fortyfifty I might see if I can get a tester.

Karcheer · 13/05/2020 22:31

Zoffany Harbour and Half Harbour Grey

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 13/05/2020 22:36

My favorite colour combination is:
A deep navyish blue,
Lilac
Cream.
I painted the interior of a caravan in those colours about 15 years ago and I always used to find it so calming.
I had very inpractical gauzey curtains to go with it. Grin

ChocoTrio · 13/05/2020 22:43

I think it depends on the room and which way it is facing in relation to sunrise and sunset etc. Also, the kind of furniture you have/want.

There's an interior architect I follow, 'Kelly Wearstler', who has some great tips. There's a Masterclass with her as well as a really inspiring Instagram page.

Bluesheep8 · 14/05/2020 07:05

elsiebear that colour is beautiful.

TildaTurnip · 14/05/2020 10:26

I’ve been looking for a not too pinky pink for ages and now two in one thread. Thanks!

ChocoTrio · 14/05/2020 18:57

Just been looking into this a bit more. From the Colour by Nature range, I like the Farrow and Ball W79 Dutch Orange, but only used on two adjacent walls (the one with the shortest width) to make the room look a bit larger. I would ensure the length of the room (longer bit) is lighter in tone and shade than the Dutch Orange, so something like W7 Skimmed milk White or W5 Orange Coloured White.

TaleOfTheContinents · 14/05/2020 21:18

@Juancornetto I've never come across Graceful Green. Did you also test Tranquil Dawn when you were picking colours? They look quite similar and I'd be interested to know how they compare.

Uhohmummy · 14/05/2020 23:29

@Juancornetto - I’d like to know that too! Graceful Green looks lovely and so does Tranquil Dawn.
