We want to move and even though I have alerts set up I’m so addicted to checking Rightmove it’s getting beyond a joke!

At least every hour more like every half hour or multiple times per hour.

I last moved house nearly 15 years ago. I still go on at least weekly and in the last 3 years daily or more than daily Grin

mumdone · 29/02/2020 20:47

Me too!! It’s just like window shopping, or a hobby. Love it!

MusicToMyEars800 · 29/02/2020 20:51

Oh thank goodness!!! I thought I was alone in having rightmove surfing as a hobby, I look at all houses, for rent, for sale, big small you name it Grin I also love looking at ridiculously expensive houses and dream about living in them BlushGrin

clearingaspaceforthecat · 29/02/2020 20:54

Yes, Me!
Looking to move and as pp said I like to combine my Rightmove searches with google maps and looking just above my maximum budget. All of which causes pleasure and pain in equal measure!

Ilovemycatssomuch · 29/02/2020 22:47

I don’t even set a budget Grin

Maybe I should be looking at rentals too!

Yes far too much! I also have to use it for work (I'm not an estate agent) but many agents are unhappy with RM fees and some now only use On The Market and Zoopla so worth expanding your addictions.

Ilovemycatssomuch · 29/02/2020 22:59

Good call FAQs! Just had a look on the other sites.

See when people have the audacity to buy houses that you were planning on viewing once ready to buy. Outrageous Angry

lol I know I agree ha!

AGnu · 29/02/2020 23:25

I prefer Zoopla myself. Not planning to move until the end of the year but I've already found the perfect house. It's totally inconvenient for DH to get anywhere he could find a job, on a main road, £100k over budget, needs updating... But other than that, it's perfect! Grin

PotatoeHead · 29/02/2020 23:37

A quick vaguely related question.
Do properties appear on Rightmove and Zoopla immediately or do they appear on the estate agents website first?

Allthepinkunicorns · 01/03/2020 09:01

I call it my hobby, I search that much. I'm just in the process of getting my house ready for selling and my rightmove searching has increased to about once every ten minutes lol. It is a serious addiction.

Zarara · 01/03/2020 09:07

I’m the same, absolutely love right move, check both sales and rentals. I also screen shot houses then wait the 3 months for the sold price to appear then compare the advertised price with sold price. We bought our house 2 years and have no plans on moving.. Confused

Ilovemycatssomuch · 01/03/2020 09:23

Oh same boat then Unicorns! Will you view any houses before yours is on the market do you think? I spoke to an estate agent the other day who told me loads of people they’re selling to aren’t on the market yet and was a bit Hmm

Is it 3 months Zarara? A house the same as ours sold really recently and I’m dying to see what it went for!

burritofan · 01/03/2020 10:10

First thing I did when we moved in was hop on rightmove and start nosing about. I even made DP come for a walk with me so we could see one of the houses IRL and declare it "not worth £1.5m". (We do not have anything close to £1.5m.)

It's an excellent outlet for my desire to do nothing but decorate, renovate and plan kitchens, without the actual hassle of dealing with builders crunching instant coffee across new floors, living with months of dust, and spending all my money.

FAQs · 01/03/2020 10:13

@Zarara that’s impressive dedication 😁

Zarara · 01/03/2020 12:59

In my defensive I do have a life and I only do it on a few select houses, mostly neighbouring properties.

Yes it’s usually around 3 months but sometimes it’s a bit more than that.

Neron · 02/03/2020 10:38

I also love Zoopla! More so because most of the time you can see previous sold prices. I'll look at them and decide if I think they are worth the gains (like my opinion matters Grin)

Parker231 · 02/03/2020 10:41

I have found my people ! It’s my hobby. I pick expensive houses and criticise them!

IpanemaGallina · 02/03/2020 10:45

I check it every other day but we do want to move next year if possible. My dream house is currently for sale in my perfect road. So annoying as it’s a year too early for us.

Abelino · 02/03/2020 10:59

Not so much Rightmove, but I'm addicted to checking out properties I will never, ever be able to afford!

Like this one, Pierre Cardin's old pad; who doesn't need a 500 seat auditorium at home? www.christiesrealestate.com/sales/detail/170-l-82238-f1803161847700350/close-to-cannes-the-bubble-palace-theoule-sur-mer-al-0659

Ilovemycatssomuch · 02/03/2020 12:05

We found an estate in a nearby town that we love and my new thing is trying to work out if people managed to get anything knocked off the brand new price by the developer.

BigWhiteRabbit · 03/03/2020 12:37

I love a rightmove perv! Glad I'm not alone. we're hoping to move which has really exacerbated my obsession but even before then I'd go on for a quick update every few weeks on my local area.

Mama12345678 · 03/03/2020 15:18

I’m totally obsessed. We want to move, almost got ours under offer, but there’s nothing we want to buy in the right location. Checking hourly!

Ilovemycatssomuch · 03/03/2020 16:25

I’m just getting worse and worse people!

Anyone changing their kids school to move? I honestly don’t know if I can do it to tnem!

OP posts:
PelicanPie · 03/03/2020 21:50

Yes. Planning to move next year and it’s painful when my dream house comes up a year too early as others have said..
