Anyone else a Rightmove addict?

We want to move and even though I have alerts set up I’m so addicted to checking Rightmove it’s getting beyond a joke!

At least every hour more like every half hour or multiple times per hour.

We moved last year and I still check it whenever I am bored waiting for one of the DC etc. I still check for the area we bought in- so far it has just backed up my view that we bought a lovely house for a good price but if something better comes up I think I'll wish I hadn't looked.

I suspect lots of people check just to have a nosey at houses nearby- when we were selling I had more than one person that I only vaguely knew make a comment to me (a nice one thankfully) about one of our rooms as they had seen it on rightmove. It felt really odd- like they had been spying on me.

Didyousaysomethingdarling · 27/02/2020 14:33

YES.

Crazyoldmaurice · 27/02/2020 16:03

We live in a very expensive area of the country and have a limited budget so there are usually only 20-30 houses that are in our budget and suitable. Been on rightmove looking for 6 months but only just sold our flat so only just properly looking now.

Our daughter starts primary in September so we really do need to move asap. I'm seriously worrying on how I'll stop looking after we buy and commit to a house and not feel regret when a nicer house we could have gone for inevitably comes up!

fussychica · 27/02/2020 18:08

Yep. Every morning check current area, anywhere else I think I might want to move to in future (but won't) and where we used to live abroad. It's part of my morning routine while having a cup of tea in bed.
I saw my old home abroad for sale the other day. It's 9 years since we sold it and it's been let go a bit but still lovely. My heart missed a beat and for a moment I was tempted which would be insane!

littlecontis · 27/02/2020 18:12

ME! In the process of buying but worried so much about the sale falling through so always checking just in case. So far haven't seen one that we would like to view without our budget.

LennyPugGoat · 27/02/2020 18:20

Thanks drownin that’s my evening planned...

NY penthouse

drownininplaymobil · 27/02/2020 18:42

You're welcome 😁

sojo44 · 27/02/2020 18:50

Yes!!! We moved almost 4 years ago and I'm still on Rightmove almost daily!!
Everyone else in the office checks Facebook and Instagram and there I am looking at houses.

One can only dream of some of the properties!
The others: you want 1.5M for what?????

sojo44 · 27/02/2020 18:51

We just had mee next door neighbours move in and now I'm nosy waiting for the sold price to get updated 🤥

sojo44 · 27/02/2020 18:52

(🤥 meant as nosey not as lying)

PeterPomegranate · 27/02/2020 18:53

I used to be, even after we moved house, but much less now. My husband likes Property Pal which is a Northern Irish site. He’s always pointing out the amazing houses we could get there if we sold our modest suburban London home.

Bouledeneige · 27/02/2020 22:25

Property porn - I look several times a week

PerpetualCircle · 27/02/2020 22:43

Oh yes, I do love a good floor plan ( do hate it when there isn’t one) checking the sale history and whizzing round on Street View, and of course the interior decor. I play Sarah Beeney in my head. I’m on it far too much, thank god it’s free!

MelanieFrontage · 27/02/2020 23:13

Ooh @perpetualcircle I’m also a sucker for a floor plan, I spend ages looking at which walls I’d knock down to get the perfect layout for when I engage my own interior designer to redo my lottery win pile 😂

MinesaPinotPlease · 28/02/2020 08:31

Sheepishly raises hand.

I am planning on moving in 2028 and am already «looking» and day dreaming on Rightmove.

Will be moving back from abroad and have freedom about where to live so the browning/research possibilities are endless.

I get all sentimental seeing character English homes Smile

InTheCludgie · 28/02/2020 10:09

A bit of an addiction here - I've been keeping an eye for years on sold prices in our area and also at what is coming on the market locally. We may be in a position to move later this year. I should probably stop looking at houses up for sale though, as an amazing one has come on the market this week but we arent yet in a position to buy (still have a bit of work to do here and waiting on funds to become available before we can move) Sad

Thecazelets · 28/02/2020 12:49

Me too - we're planning to downsize in 5-10 years time when all the dc have left home, so I am constantly checking for suitable houses in the areas we might move to. Nothing like being well-prepared!

TedsFederationRep · 28/02/2020 12:51

Me.

I'd say more but I've just spotted this amazing house...

flirtygirl · 28/02/2020 15:07

I want to move by next summer so constantly looking. I only moved last year but know I won't stay here that long.

I've seen 4 or 5 houses that I would love and probably another 8 that would be okay at the right price. It's so sad when a perfect house sells even when you know you couldn't have brought it anyway.

flirtygirl · 28/02/2020 15:08

I also love the mumsnet threads with links looking for houses in an area in someone's budget. The links and suggestions are fab.

Winnipegdreamer · 28/02/2020 16:34

Yep. Waiting to buy, absolutely chuff all unless you want a house that’s not been touched for 30 years at huge prices Hmm

Mydogatemypurse · 28/02/2020 16:35

Yeeaaahhhh it's not called property porn for nothing.
I often pick my lottery house ha

Mydogatemypurse · 28/02/2020 16:36

One in liverpool and one in anglesey btw. Preferably with a swimming pool each and walk in wardrobes x

Ilovemycatssomuch · 28/02/2020 19:58

@InTheCludgie that’s the problem I’m having - we’re not in a position to sell yet so I’ve seen a good few houses that would have been perfect but are now sold Sad

There’s nothing at all on the market to suit us just now though unless we majorly moved area but the kids would hate moving schools.

Ilovemycatssomuch · 28/02/2020 19:59

Also, we discounted houses because of how much they cost but have since realised that that’s about how much we will need to spend. Grrrrrr I’ll cry if I think about it too much.
