Wood effect tiles - will I regret it?

Please tell me if you have done it and possibly show me what the final product looks like!?
And if you considered it and went for something else, what was it and why?
We need to find a flooring for the whole ground floor that we would agree on...
Originally was thinking Edwardian pattern hallway and downstairs loo, wood in the front room and possibly tile in kitchen and dining area but not sure what to do with the sitting room part of the open plan and also unsure of so many different surfaces and how to join them up etc.

Wow. It does look fab! I think you have helped me make up my mind! Hubby will be happy that one decision has been made. Just need to agree on the design of the tile with him. lol

There's a lot of variety - some are printed to look like perfect wood, others have 'cracks" in them like aged wood. Also some have "saw marks". Depends on what suits the room you're putting it in.
I'm laying mine in a modern minimalist kitchen so want "perfect" wood, the natural rustic look wouldn't suit.
But in an older house, and, more "lived in" effect might look better

Here’s ours. Rex Selection Oak in Cream. Ardex Gentle Dawn grout (grout choice is definitely important!)

Personally I wouldn’t go for herringbone with wood look tiles because there would be just too much grout and real wood parquet has no gaps between blocks so the grout would make it look wrong... having said that I’ve seen some photos where it looks great.

@minipie great choice of grout colour. Makes such a difference

Here are the tiles I have - picture from catalogue.
Laid herringbone but unfortunately still with pale grout.

We re-did our kitchen last year with Mora tiles from Topps Tiles, laid in a herringbone effect. They look amazing and most people think they are the real thing. I knew I wanted a tile that didn’t show paw prints too badly, and I chose a grout to blend in with the tile. Best flooring ever! And we’ve got underfloor heating too which works a treat. The tiles are lovely and warm underfoot. I disagree with the poster who said there’s too much grout with a herringbone pattern. Surely there’s the same amount whatever design you chose? Will try and post some photos. PS the Mora tile is currently on offer at Topps too:

Tiler has laid a third of our floor and I LOVE THE TILES!
And that's with all the spacers and mess and no grout and I still love them

These all look good. I just need to get hubby to view as many as possbible in shops but he is impossible shopper yet has an opinion on everything! Trying to find a north london retailer with wide range seems to be the problem!

My neighbour has them. He has laid them in a herringbone pattern so they really look like parquet.
They are beautiful. Sorry can't do picture.

Koumak · 10/10/2019 17:53

Please send me some more pictures! I cannot decide on the actual tiles 🙄

Hi can you tell me the name of your tiles and where you got them please. I’ve decided on wood effect tiles but which ones is a difficult decision... yours look fab and I’d like to get a sample.

Hi
Pleas can you tell me what the name of the tiles are in your picture and where they are from. I’m having trouble deciding but yours look lovely 😊

@Jojo2389 Do you remember the shade of wood tile in the Starwood range you chose? It's exactly what I'm looking for!

Hmk27 · 23/12/2020 19:04

Hi Koumak, what did you go for in the end? I am very close to going with wood effect tiles. Am mostly worried out cleaning them ... will the grout get dirty? Will they generally be hard to clean as not a smooth surface? I find dirt gets in the grout on my bathroom floor tiles so vwry wary about this. Any views anyone? Thanks! Hande

Sorry to be so late to the party, but these tiles are gorgeous! One question - in thr first two photos the grout looks pale, but in the last two much darker, have you used different grout in different areas? Either way its stunning!

We used these and they look amazing in bathroom.
